I was surprised. I expected the tires to slide a little bit on the wet pavement and then stop fairly normally, but they howled like a banshee, trying to throw me forward in the cab. I think the ABS even kicked in a bit (not sure because I was so distracted by the loud squealing and everything else). Eliminated any doubts I had about the performance of the KO2's in the rain - and proved once again not to believe everything on the internet.

By the way, I saw a guy squeal his tires on a well compacted dirt road. I couldn't do it. Of course, at the time, I had an old clunker that could just barely spin the nearly bald tires. Lol.

:bananadead: < poor OP - hasn't posted a message since. but... I mean... what would one expect with that intro.

It's a wonder my BILs, FIL and I ever survived our pheasant, deer, and elk hunts in the frozen tundras :)rimshot:) of Wyoming. I mean, that's why I bought my first Tundra in TX, and then sold it for a 4R cause I knew it couldn't handle the weather in WV or AK. I mean only 4R can handle snow (everyone knows that). Dunno what I was thinking of going back to a Tundra here in PNW/Mountain West. It's a wonder if even starts in the morning seeing the snow n the ground (I do give it a good peptalk and reassure it that it really is a truck, and that I swear the 4x4 will do it's job - these trucks really do have confidence issues - just gotta show it some TLC).

Dunno how I'm gonna survive in the north :goingcrazy:

Stopping on snow and ice I pop the transmission into neutral. So much easier to stop when the engine isn't pushing you forward. Did so this morning pulling out of the garage onto the icy driveway and at the icy intersection. Mind you, this is low-speed, say 20mph or less. I called uncle on Toyota's ABS system long ago, you hit the brakes hard on ice in gear and the truck just keeps going and going and going. Pop it into neutral and you can actually stop.

Higher speeds, staying in a lower gear for engine braking is a good thing. You don't want to downshift abruptly on ice. So yeah, there are techniques the driver can use.

I am now afraid to leave my driveway, thanks to this thread. I can't even get out of the truck. Please send help, with whiskey and snacks, before spring.

We had a pretty decent snowstorm yesterday (3~3.5"). Went on a shopping spree (Lowe's, HF, etc), so drove around for about two hours. Again, no problems - a warm truck, good music, and pretty scenery.

Coming from a 4Runner, one of the 1st things I noticed was how well the Tundra did in the snow. Felt way more secure and 'planted' especially on turns.

You can turn traction control off . Button is by seat warmers. We don't get a lot of snow around my parts but ugly when we do. This last week I just put it in S4 and my K02's were fine.

Well, against the best advice of the OP. I took the Tundra out of the garage into the snow. I immediately got stuck, and had to get my daughters Jeep to pull me out... Guess I'm not leaving my house until spring... and I'm out of milk. Great.

I made it out of the garage, then immediately went sliding into a berm. The snow is almost up to the rims. I'm terrified. :mudding::rofl:

I grew up and lived north of Minneapolis for 25 years. Best car I ever had for the snow was a 1970 (give or take) Toyota Corolla. Had decent tires and all the weight was over the tires. Plus in general it was a very light car so would at times just ride on top the snow..ie would not pack fresh snow down as to be dragging the bottom. Given the lack of power spinning the wheels too much was generally not a concern. Also had a Pontiac Grand Prix..one-wheel rear-wheel drive with a V-8 engine. In my 3 years of winter driving with that car, I was never stuck...amazing the results of smart driving decisions. Before the Grand Prix I had a 4WD truck...I was stuck all the time..again the result of driving decisions.

Good thing she could pull you out backwards so no one gets jealous of your Gen 2.5 tow hooks.

I was wondering how long it would take for this thread to make it to the great tow hook conspiracy... I was actually just looking at pulling mine off to paint them, so I could show them off to the world.

IDK. I'm not convinced he was a troll. I think he was serious, then everyone came into the thread, unzipped their pants and swung their dongs around probably hitting him in the face a few times. He looked down and left in shame, with a few stripes of dong sweat on his cheeks.

That's how omnipotent Tundra owner dongs are. They transcend logins, space, and time. He opened his eyes one morning and felt the dong slaps. One got him in the eye. Now he's recovering from pink-eye and trying to explain to his family how he got pinkeye from dong sweat.

We're getting a pretty brutal winter storm here. I guess I'm lucky I made it home on my 30 mile highway commute, let alone around town to run a couple errands.

There is one thing about this truck that proves it was designed in Texas, rather than Michigan: the recessed license plate lights. They get packed with snow so easily and then don't light up anything. I looked at my neighbour's F150 at his lights are in the same spot but they're not recessed so you could easily brush the snow off.
