How did you know this is the correct orientation? The ICON installation instructions make no mention of front or back of the spring pack orientation. If you are correct that means the shop put both springs on backwards on my truck. :(

For 1, I called up Icon, they said that the bigger looped section was the front.
2nd, after scrolling through some pictures on here, I saw noticed that out of 2 sets of the pins going horizontal of the pack. The ones that are underneath, go in the rear.
^may sound confusing, if you need elaboration check out

In this pic orientation, you'll want the front of the truck facing left.

ADDITIONALLY, one of my leafs I swapped was also facing the wrong way. You tell by checking the spacing between each leaf. None of them should be ending at the same spot on either side.

After doing all this, my rear axel move foward 1-2 inches and was more centered in the fender. Small difference but at least I have the comfort in my heart.

Not a super big deal to have them BOTH backwards as apposed to having one of them wrong and the other right.

Thanks! I appreciate this! ICON needs to rev the installation instructions. This oversight on their part is going to end up costing me another $250 to have it corrected.

Ok, so I got a response from ICON. They said the end with the military wrap goes towards the front. Apparently you cannot go by the location of the part number because on my truck the part numbers are on the back (opposite the military wrap side). The shop installed my springs in the right orientation because the military wrap on both sides is correctly facing the front. If anyone would like me to attach pictures I can.

Here are some pictures. I took one picture each from the ICON website to show differences between military wrap and regular. I then too three pictures of the leafs on my truck on the driver’s side.

Anyone using the option 1 with no weight in the back? Is is smooth? I haul a sled in the winter and a dirt bike or 2 in the summer but am mostly unloaded. I dont actually want any lift but other than stock springs, there seem to be few options for a progressive leaf pack.

I’m running option 1 empty. My on road comfort really sucks right now so it’s hard to tell if it’s the springs or something else or a combination of things. I think these springs, even option 1, are designed to have a constant load up to 250 lbs, so that tells me ride comfort may be diminished with an empty load. I have a 230 lbs RSI SmartCap on order so I’ll have a better idea after I have it on. I’m also planning to go down to a 17 or 18 inch rim, lower load rating, and taller sidewall to improve ride comfort.

    Thanks for the reply!
Does it lift the rear 1.75” as advertized?

I didn’t measure before and after because my stock leafs were kind of flattened out. But yes, it does raise it a little. With my front Kings 2.5 coilovers set at 2.5 inches of lift, my rear still sits 1 3/4 inches higher than the front with no load in the back. I’m m using option 1.

I’m running option 2 currently with no weight (planning for 400lbs, but the camper shell is taking forever). Ride is a little stiff in the back (installed toytec aluma kit as well). However it’s not much different than stock. I really only notice it on hard freeway concrete, but again I’m on option 2.

Question for you all in the know about the rxt

I installed the rxt on option 2 myself. Wasn’t sure which end was which, but logic led me to believe military wrap should be on the frame with the slipper style towards the shackle.

here is my concern… it seems that the springs moved my axle backwards. Pictures below show just about 1.5” to the mudflap, yet about 4” to the front of the wheel well.

Thinking I’ll call icon for input, but it just looks to far back to me.

I just took a picture of my wheel. It’s centered. From the center of the hub to the edge of the fender is 20 inches on each side.

That sucks. Measure from center of hub to the fender opening. Tire size and height shouldn’t really matter (I think). Mine is basically equidistant from front and back.

I called Icon about it. Scott said he has never heard of anyone having the issue.

So now I need to double check and confirm my install and get pictures... I'll be insanely pissed if I randomly got bad springs. Install on them was a bitch.... and that would be the second warranty issue with Icon (got a fluke bad sleeve on my Icon UCA).

My first pic shows, my leaf springs backwards in option 1!

Second pic shows my leaf springs in the correct position and with option 2 config.
    Subtle differences.

With option 2, i have almost little to no bounce.

    What diameter tires?

I have the military wrap facing the cab on both sides so it should be correct, but my ride quality is really bad. When I took a tape measure today, both the front and back of the wheel were the same distance from the fenders.

I’m taking my truck to Cali Raised Offroad on Saturday to look at it. Aside from the harsh ride, my driver’s side front makes a metal noise she I go into a dip such as leaving a steep driveway. Makes me think something wasn’t installed correctly from the other shop.

I have 315/70 r17… waiting on 35 km3 as one of my tires looks like a drag slick right now

Do you have a BMC? tires rubbing?

I’m running 285/60R20 Ridge Grapplers. I think they are 33.7 inches. No BMC and no problems rubbing after I removed front mud guards.

They have reservoirs. They are the 2.5 OEM shocks. Not adjustable and not the extended travel. Basically the base model Kings.

How much lift did you do in the front? What feels worse, the front or rear?

2.5 inches in front. Originally they set it at 3 inches but the ride quality was so bad I had them put it back to the settings the shocks came in which I believe is 2.5 inches. It did help but still rides like crap. I think most of the problem is the tires I chose.

I can’t tell for sure which is worse but I think the front is worse. No bumps in the road are absorbed. All bumps are transferred to the seats and steering wheel.

Do you know if you placed the center pin in the correct hole on the axle mount? There are, I believe, 3 holes, the one in the middle is where it’s supposed to go Seems like the only possibility to me.

Will double check it this weekend, maybe it slipped back while I was working the axle around. But I believe that the pin is sitting in the center hole.

You should have a new set of ubolts to replace the ones you've got if you plan to loosen them. Consider the ubolts 1 time use unless you just recently did them.
