Did some research and this video came up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9MW-PEYdHQ

I never thought I would need a cooler that would need to keep ice for 8 days, but last year at a race in San Felipe, Mexico I found I needed one. The entire town was out of ice. It's not a big town, but every beer store, gas station, the Korean grocery store, and the 7-11 were out of ice. A lot of people out in the desert drinking beer with cheap coolers need a lot of ice apparently. So the scenario of "what if that town in Baja has no ice" became a very real thing. So I got a real cooler.

One reason I went with this one is the shape. Ther than the rounded edges and corners, it's completely square. No weird edges protruding like the Pelican or others. Downside, other than price, is this thing is HEAVY and has no wheels. If it's full it takes 2 people to carry it. But it holds ice like advertised. I'm happy with it.

I have a Yeti 45 that I got from a vendor. I work road construction and in the Texas summer I always keep water iced down for my guys. I’ve usually lasts 2 days. In an open bed with the sun beating on it when it’s dead middle of summer it sometimes only lasts a day.

Oddly enough, I’ve thrown a towel in the cold water and wrapped around a guy more times than I count to get them cooled off. Pretty handy to have readily available and cold. Definitely lasts longer than your old school Coleman’s.

As far as testing different brands, I’ve only been gifted a Yeti, so nothing to compare to. Happy to try other brands if anyone works for those brands, looking above a few posts, and wants to donate for my testing. ;)

I should donate my Ozark Trail. You can let us all know how many seconds or possibly minutes it held out.

Pelican has a lifetime warranty. Only cooler I believe does. Bulky though. I'll stick to pelican cases for guns and knives :D

    ok all.
Yeti in truck that requires 7-10 bags of ice weekly this time of year. They recommend a ice and salt for "Slush" adult beverages. Tried that once in a Igloo with 2 cases of St. Louis's best, 4 bags of Ice and 1/2 box of rock salt at a store. 30 minutes later had to cut the tops off of the icicle cans because frozen. Waste of opportunity. There should be a better way!!

My small igloo doesn't have a drain plug, I'm afraid to try with that one:violent:

Went with lifetime. I purchased the 77 and the 52. Took camping for a week. Refilled ice on day 4 I think. Still had ice in it. Meet all expectations for the fraction of the price. Wally world. I can't spend several hundred dollars on a cooler.

My concern about the Lifetime is I didn't see an easy way to replace the rope handles should they need to be replaced.

Had a trip this weekend with 100 degree days and the RTIC 45qt that was with us held ice like champ.

I was surprised cause after a day of being not used, the ice that was in there was dry. Hadn’t even melted yet. Thumbs up from me for sure.

Guys, pelican coolers are doing 30% off for 4th of July. Support an American company that makes a great product!
