Also if possible I try to add cool stuff to the cooler (ie refrigerated water/food/etc) as opposed to warm stuff to make the ice cool it from "scratch". (Protip: this also allows you to drink your beer sooner)

I should have been the guy to think of doubling the wall thickness of a cooler that’s cuts the capacity in half, yet market with a snazzy name and retail the new design at 3-4x the cost of an igloo.

    Brilliant!

I juat cant get myself to buy a Yeto at that price. I do have a matchinf Yeti and RTIC tumbler and the Yeti blows it out of the water. Did a hot coffee test at work and the RTIC was cool by lunch and Yeti hot at end of day. I was shocjed considering I thought RTIC was just a rebranded or knock off Yeti since they are identical looking. But I do miss those old igloos with the water drain tap.

I wish i could have something that will be cool instantly whej I get groceries without buying a bag of ice. I dont think a small fridge that sits in my bed all day every day is worth it and would be cool in time.

Well so much for my cooler test. The wife volunteered both the ice chest for a party on Saturday but up until the Saturday afternoon both still had ice.

Yeti ice was half melted and ozark was about 3/4 melted from Wednesday night to Saturday afternoon. Good enough for me.

I bought a Pelican cooler last year and I have used it several times now. It has performed great and I think the quality is tops. I also have a Yeti 35. I recently took them both on a camping trip and I would say there was no difference in performance between the two. I had planned on buying another Yeti, but figured I'd give the Pelican a shot. There rifle cases are awesome, so I figured the coolers would be done right. Made in the USA is a plus for the pelican too.

Yup. I had two of them when I drove down from Canada to South Carolina. When I arrived in the south I went to Walmart and promptly returned them both. Ordered a Yeti from Amazon and have been thoroughly pleased

I work at pelican in south deerfield MA and its good to know that it works well for you. I use my 20qt as my camp cooler and just as you say, it will keep my bacon and eggs cold all night and into the next day. We actually just had the bigwigs from the cali factory come out last week and talk about how we'll be starting to focus on the overlanding market because they see a lot of our products used on offroading vehicles so I expect they'll be rolling out some bed and rack oriented cases cases and coolers by the end of the year

    Went camping over the weekend.
I can share my experience with a Yeti tundra 75 with seat cushion / Igloo Sportsman 65 / Coleman Marine 75
    All “pre-chilled”

Temp range high 70’s lows mid 50’s

    6 days

I froze 1 gallon bottles and placed 2 in each cooler with a 10lbs bag of ice.

The Yeti is far superior in holding ice. On the 6th day the frozen gallon bottles were still 80% frozen and 40 % ice still in cooler.

    Igloo Sportsman is good
Frozen gallon bottles were 20% ice and all ice melted

    Coleman Marine worked
All ice and frozen gallon bottles melted.
The melted ice water was still cold.

All coolers sitting next to each other. Some shade during the day and direct sunlight.

The Yeti tundra did have a seat cushion on it and that might have helped.

All in all... Yeti was the clear winner..

For the price Igloo Sportsman works great.

For bbq and park days the Coleman works.

If I need to have ice for 5+ days I’d take the Yeti.

There are campgrounds in the California Sierras that require you to use the bear resistant lockers at night. The older lockers are too small for a decent size cooler, thus you are required to have a bear resistant cooler.

Went up to BigBear with my son last weekend. Put 4 bags (28lbs) of ice in my RTIC 65 on Friday afternoon, went out to the truck today (Thursday) to grab a soda and there was still ice floating around... 6 day and the cooler was only loaded half full. Not bad!!

I’ve got a pelican. It’s great. I like that it has latched rather than rubber straps. In Yuma the rubber won’t last. Only thing I don’t like about the Roto mold coolers is how heavy they are.

I have an ORCA 20 and Orion 65. When the time is right, I’ll be replacing the ORCA for an Orion. Not even close when it comes to ice retention. The old saying still stands, you get what you pay for.

Yes, I am aware of the bear resistant requirements...99% of these Yeti coolers aren’t purchased for camping in areas where there is a requirement for a bear-proof cooler.

    Again, brilliant marketing...
