I am looking for a nice used Tundra but ALL trucks seem higher than giraffe nipples here in Arizona. In another post I asked about a truck I had found listed for sale and several replies thought it was high for the miles.

The issue I am having is that none of the dealers want to negotiate down more than a couple hundred dollars at best. I am also @ 100 miles from where most listings are in Phx. and NONE of the dealers will even talk price over the phone. The dealers want to get you on site and then either pressure you or waste your time. They days of emailing and working out a deal are over.I have beat autotrader, edmunds, toyota dealers, FB marketplace, Carvanna and other sites to hell in my searching. Someone mentioned they see lower prices in Vegas but I am not finding them.

I will pay actually pay $100 to someone if they can find me a similar truck with like features within 250 miles of zip code 86326 (Cottonwood,AZ) that is lower priced AND I end up purchasing it for $1000 less than it is listed OR close to what True Car says it is worth.

    Here are my requirements"

    Tundra
    crew cab
    4x4
    38 gal tank
    under 60K miles
colors: red, white, blue, gray, (no black, cement, brown or tan)
    tow package w/ trailer brake
    good tires
    no accidents
    good car fax history
    < $44,000 asking
No Vroom or deliver and sign dealers. (I want to test drive it and kick the tires for as long as I like)

    Good luck

Part of the problem though - what you are seeking likely is possible but not probable.

You want this vehicle for 43k or less (post says you want an ask of under 44 and expect to pay a grand less) - that’s a reach in this market for a 2019 or newer - possible to find a 2018 with less than 60k miles on the clock of course - but of course easier to find newer with less.

For $100 - most people who know of such gems would more likely buy and resell on their own for more $$ or have connections with a dealer.

Limiting yourself geographically as well makes it a tough task. Anywhere in the US/Can that price range is tough - but SW and PAC NW seem to be tighter pricing than markets like the Midwest and SE.

Any deal like that will not be a time to "kick the tires".

I dunno, probably a very limited in scope warranty solely intended for marketing. Regardless, if you have seen 1 Tundra, you've seen them all. I bought mine sight unseen from a reputable dealer and they shipped it to me.

    I'd do it again too.

Good luck. Seriously. Tough time to buy a used truck. I honestly wouldn’t sell my 2017 CM that checks all your “must have” boxes (one owner, perfect history, 57K miles) for less than $48K right now. Why? Every dealer has a $5K market adjustment on new Tundras. If I gotta pay $5K more for my next truck, I gotta pass that cost on. Otherwise, I’ll wait this bubble out. If it never bursts, my current rig will never be worth less. Hope you find one… they’re great rigs.

lmao i actually looked it up on their dealership website, the lifetime warranty is a joke. it is very limited and those parts never break on a toyota. doesnt even cover the tranny. just the transfer case.

Like I said, it's a marketing ploy. BUT who cares? Get the truck you want at the price you need. The powertrain on these things are going to be solid. So awful ploy of a warranty or not it shouldnt even come into consideration.

Online pricing is typically the "hey look at me" best deal pricing. Hard to get them to come off of their best price. Couple that with the current "I can't find a truck, I'll pay you $100 to help" market and you'll be hard pressed to do so. Local lot websites, Autotrader, cars.com, Truecar etc. are good ways to look online. Also, needing the truck to be local to you (expensive place to buy trucks) makes this mission impossible. Go to Dallas Texas or Oklahoma to find this elusive truck. Atlanta even has good pricing. Arizona? SoCal? not so much. Trucks are $5k more here in Little Rock, AR. I buy from Texas usually.

Be patient buddy. You will find the right one...don't rush and be diligent! If you're serious, you should consider other states and buy a 1way ticket and drive back...I did that and got what I wanted and learned the truck while driving home..6 hours one way ended up being a fun, worthwhile trip. This was before the cra-cra pricing tho...UT, TX and even NM will be your best bet...you might get lucky in CO too...

There's a 2016 platinum here that meets all of your requirements. But not even close to 250 miles.

If you were actually in Iowa then I'd have $100.

I see your name is Iowa guy, so I thought I might toss this in in case you leave AZ for back home. Crisscrossing the country in early September I went west through Iowa. On my way out I passed through Sioux Falls and grabbed a bite (warning for anyone that trips there, be aware if you order a burger in Iowa/SD it may come as a loose meat sammich!). Anyway, I stopped and ate at USS South Dakota Battleship Memorial Park and nearby saw a Toyota dealership with SEVERAL Tundras. Never stopped to check prices, but I was amazed that it was the largest collection of Tundras (many 2.5s) that I’d seen since the pandemic began. Looking at a map, I believe it was Billion Auto (Toyota/Scion dealership), a block or two west on the 42. Good luck!

Carmax has a few, here is one that is just 1K over your price (maybe equal or better in price once you factor in all the dealer fees to the original one from the other thread), is a 2020 SR5 Crewmax 4x4 5.7 with tow package with the big tank, gray, and 12K miles, still under Toyota 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty.
    https://www.carmax.com/car/20942853

That one is in Tucson, probably free transfer if one of the other AZ Carmax stores is closer to you than this one.

Carmax has a 24 hour test drive, and I think a 30 day return policy, and doesn't have a lot of the fees that a regular dealer like a Toyota dealer would have.

Disclaimer - I didn't buy my truck from Carmax, I almost did, was a 2018 SR5 with TRD Off-road package for 42K and I loved my 24 hour test drive, but when I took it to my mechanic, it had a plastic bedliner and when I looked under the bedliner, the bed was all scraped and scratched and dented :( They wouldn't come down on the price for this "hidden damage", Otherwise I would have bought it ;) I ended up buying from Carvana, which has a 7 day return policy kind of like a test drive.

I feel the OP likes the idea of buying a tundra, but doesn’t seem sure, this is based on the 3-4 different thread topics started by him. Plenty of options have been given, and opinions and suggestions in others, and then OP stops posting and then a new thread pops up with a new question or a new “vehicle of interest”.

I was Coeur d'Alene, ID in May… I think it was Parker Toyota near where the 95 runs off of the 90… same thing: there were at least a half dozen Tundras plus other full-size trucks on the lot, whereas, nowhere else I’d been in SoCal had more than one, most had none.

I guess I didn’t see prices though. Maybe over near CdA and SxFalls they’ve just held onto em and hope to bring in a premium. Does make me wonder how they can stockpile right now.

And/or is unrealistic about the current market. Prices are as high as I’ve ever seen them. My 2017 is basically worth the same amount or more today than it was when I bought it brand new. Inflation, supply chain, chip shortage, etc. Whatever the reason, it seems like it’s be a sellers market for some time to come.

Exactly, the fact you can buy a brand new pro at msrp (if you find one) and it blue books for 5-8k more then what you just paid out the door.

I hate to say this, you should know by now it’s an upside down market. Being picky and choosy and hesitant won’t get you very far. You need to know what you want and when you find it pull the trigger. The days of price negotiations are over in the near term. For every truck you find, there are a bunch of people behind you willing to pay more. You’re going to buy on their terms not yours. Good luck. If you find that unicorn keep us posted.

My 16 with all the features you listed is at 60k with extras, but given the buy back in scenario I'd likely not bend to under 45k.

It's getting back in to the market that's the problem. I can float an extra 5/7k but everything is costing more.

    That's likely everyone's situation
