I was surprised to find out that the TRD Pro cheaped out on some luxury features

The 2020 Raptor started in the mid to high 50’s base. Loaded out with graphics, Recaro seats and all it would be 78K. In 2019-2020 they were 5-8K off sticker. Covid hit and their prices were MSRP.

Dealers mostly ordered the 68-75K Raptors. Those sold the best for them and 95% of the buyers just wanted a cool looking sporty Truck. Resale on the loaded ones was also much better.

It would make some sense to offer a base TRD PRO but they know the loaded ones are the way to go. The TRD PRO a has become the flagship model for the Tundra. It’s what showcased the most on the reveal and commercials. They want to sell a lot of those at a premium in 2022.

Also no footwell lights, accent lights, rear side window blinds, these are all on the Platinum.

I despise pickup truck snobbery. When did luxury became the defining feature of pickups?

Pickups were "base" for 80+ years. Nowadays people get all kinds ass ache if the truck interior has even an inch of hard plastic.

I remember when cruise control was a crazy luxury.

The reason is simple, if they are charging luxury prices, they should deliver luxury features.

because more and more people never bought trucks before started using trucks as their daily
I could buy a base SR utility workhorse for occasional hauling stuff and another loaded Lexus ES 350 for daily comfort and luxury, but that's 2 vehicles with 2 insurance payment and a total price of over $80k.
If a $70k truck can have all the luxury on a Lexus and still being a truck for utility, then it makes sense financially just to get 1 luxury truck instead

What's your definition of "luxury prices" "luxury features"?

All this so-called "luxury" has priced most out of the market...everybody bitchin about not enough "luxury" and when you get the Luxury BS, bitch about the price for "luxury"...most are gonna always find something to bitch about just to feel relevant!

This is not a pickup truck thing, it applies to all vehicles.

And if you don't want all that "elitist bullshit" you can still get a base SR5, Ford XL, etc.

The people that complain about pricing want all that stuff but want to pay base truck prices for it.

If I could I would choose a truck with manual windows, manual door locks, no cruise control, no heated seats or steering wheel, no ventilated seats, no safety sense, no infotainment screen and manual knobs for everything. I just want a 2 door, automatic, 4WD, 6.5' bed, cloth seats, AM/FM/CD, with air conditioning that gets 30mpg. And no, I don't use it as a work truck. It would be my TV and daily driver.

Does the 3rd gen come with this trim? LOL

Will the 2022 1794 be 4x4? You can deal with all the chrome with a good auto custom paint shop, even tho it is alot. I love my vented seats, they become useful when keeping your to-go food warm.

I wish, make it a bench seat and a rubber floor that be perfect. Really for me a SR not detuned, pro suspension, exterior pro looks, and vinyl floor would be perfect. O and a 6 seater, or at least a column or dash shift then custom 6th seat option

What about the Ford Lightning? It's supposed to be able to power your home for 3 days.
