I was surprised to find out that the TRD Pro cheaped out on some luxury features

    after combing thru the specs,
apart from the air ride height stuff, did you know that the TRD Pro does NOT have have:
    1. digital rearview mirror
    2. towing assist/ trailer straight line guide
    3. 2nd row seats ventilation

they are all available on platinum or 1794

    edit:

here is the complete list of non-cosmetic features can be had on other trims but NOT on a TRD Pro:
    • Heated power extending and folding tow mirrors with integrated LED turn signals, LED trailering light, and black mirror caps
    • Power running boards and BedStep®
    • Active aero front spoiler
    • Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system
    • Load-leveling Rear Height Control Air Suspension
    • 10-in. color Head-Up Display (HUD) with speedometer, navigation and Hybrid System Indicator
    • Trailer Backup Guide system with Straight Path Assist (SPA)
    • Rear door sunshades
    • Digital display auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass and HomeLink® universal transceiver
    • Leather-trimmed 10-way power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats with 4-way power-adjustable lumbar support
    • Heated and ventilated front & rear seats
    • Driver's-seat memory function
    • Power tilt/telescopic steering wheel

Further proof 1794 is superior to all, anything less is for the peasants.

Maybe that means the pro won’t cost as much as we think, maybe less than the 1794 or platinum.

I thought it was known for awhile the pro is not the top trim for this model. The 1794 is. Or maybe the capstone now..

Listen here sonny! When I was young the trd pro didn’t even have leather! And we still paid $5k over sticker!

The Pro is meant as the showy off-road version, if you want luxury get the luxury trims lol

Maybe, but in all the reviews they always refer to it as the top of the line model, or the highest cost model for some reason.

That's because most of the ppl doing reviews are just trying to make a click bait video. They don't know much at all about the Tundra.

but the 2nd gen Tundra TRD Pro is more expensive than the 4x4 1794, only comparing sticker price

It doesn't get the BSM or RCTA either. It's not meant for luxury.

Check the build link in my signature.
Not surprised - really no different than how they have handled the Gen 2.5.

The Platinum can't be had with any OR options - very limited package options for it.
The TRD Pro can't be had with all the 'top tier' Platinum/1794 options - memory, ventilated seats (in the case of Gen 2.5, fronts, for Gen 3, rears), towing upgrades, etc. And there are no packages available for it at all. But it will have one of the highest (if not the highest) base MSRPs.
The 1794 will be the one that can be optioned out with the most available features, but you'll be stuck with mountains of chrome, wood grain, and brown leather interior. :puke:

I'll be interested to see what this rumored "capstone" or whatever they call it trim level will offer. But I also expect the pricing to be even higher than what we've seen/heard/rumored so far.

So, in the end, I'm looking forward to about 10 more years and 300k miles on my current one before I start really thinking about something else.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
The only things the TRD Pro will not have that I care about are the HUD, and the digital rear view mirror. Neither one are a deal breaker though.

As it is I’m probably sitting out until late next year or early 2023 before I make any kind of move. By then maybe Toyota will update the options list. At the very least the cool kids will have a chance to beta test the truck for me, it might turn out to be a dud.

Pro, historically it's the suspension that is the big deal IMO. Everything else is fluff. I don't understand why they decided the Pro is hybrid only, that's major fluff. Why does a TRD Pro need the hybrid?

No, TFL confirmed this with Mike S. in their interview/review video. You can't get more confirmation than from the head of Tundra engineering

And #1 I think is mandated by congress starting on XX date.

#2 doesnt really seem like a luxury only option.

#3 seems like a luxury feature.

I always found it odd that they never had a TRD Pro loaded version. This new 2022 is supposed to have some "Capstone" extreme trim above Platinum and 1794 so why not also offer a Capstone TRD Pro level. I would love to have my ass warmed and massaged along with every other option when going hunting or fishing. Yes, super expensive, but Ford and Dodge top trims sell like crazy with insane prices. The TRD Pro sells because of the way it looks. There's a reason the most common mod for our trucks is the leveling kit. The new 2022 makes me vomit slightly every time I see that front end but when the TRD Pro pics were released it became livable. Still will need a aftermarket front end or just tie wrap a sheet of plywood to the front but still livable.

Horsepower and torque. The hybrid has more of both, by a lot.

If the goal is to make a sporty off road truck more power and torque are kind of appealing to buyers.

I went thru the spec again and compiled the complete list, dang, this really makes me question the intention of Toyota willfully withholding features such as memory seats. I have a feeling that they are just going to be slowly added to TRD Pros in the subsequent model years to "justify" MSRP increase year over year

Cheaped out? I’m actually surprised it has as many luxury features as it does. This is the PRO model that comes standard with all their top off road features as this was designed to showcase the Tundras off road ability and to give customers a off road worthy truck straight from the factory. If I wanted luxury features I would purchase a luxury edition not a off road focused model.

I agree, TRD Pro should have 2 variants:
    • A mid $50k base bare-bone, vinyl dash, soft-tex non-perforated seats, SR5 grade interior for those who actually go off road hardcore. Muddy boots and pants don't mix well with ventilated seats
    • And a high $70k truly no-compromise, checking all the boxes premium package version.
Barring the air suspension, there's no luxury feature that gets in the way of all the off-road performance parts. Those $80k+ trucks like the Raptor and TRX already prove that there's enough demand for off-road capability and luxury in the same vehicle
