This is good information.

 

That's a relatively cheap price to get the exact truck you want in your driveway.

You wouldn't want to look back in a year or 5 years and say I wish I would of spent that extra $2500.
Plus the SO will get you top dollar whenever you move on from it.

Ok, so the closer truck is out. Called them up and he wanted to give me first crack as a resident of the state, and they only sell at MSRP. Well, the dealer doc fee is significantly higher than the Texas place, and the Wyoming truck is full of accessory bloat to the tune of $54,XXX+ in cost. He said it was to near delivery (by the end of the month) to trim the options. That's a solid chunk above the MSRP of the Pro as I requested it from Texas, and it had some deal breaker options on it.

Texas, here I come..... I hope. All depends on the trade in talks.

 

Well, the trade offer was lower than I hoped. The price would be significantly higher than my absolute top range, let alone the range I'd be happy with.

I explained that there's no anger and I'd very much like to buy the truck, but I'd need a better deal. I hope it can happen, but I also know he can sell that thing tomorrow. There's no incentive for him to help me out on this. If I get a definitive "deals off" notice from him I'll start the hunt locally and open up the option to a White Pro.

Whether the deal works with him or not, I appreciate him taking the time to find the truck and tailor it for me. The deals these days just aren't super great I guess.

 

I don't have the means to remove the suspension, and the trade is low enough that I would not be willing to give it away. Wheels, tires, and armor I can pull easily, but not the suspension.

May just keep the Tundra and enjoy it instead. Trade values have dropped steadily since I started this process a couple months ago, and I may have missed the opportunity by no being willing to settle. C'est la vie. I'll be out of debt quicker this way.

It's mild disappointment. No tantrums, and I'm pretty sure I'll live.

 

At least you still have a good truck. Sorry it didn't work out but you also would have been unhappy settling for a Taco that didn't meet your criteria.

 

Oh, for sure. I love the Tundra, and it sucks to miss out on a dream vehicle by a few grand, but if you don't have a limit you'll always pay too much.

I'm still going to contact the local guy if the Texas guy gives me the final wave off.

 

So far, no response from the Texas guy. Don't know if it'll just be no response because he can't do anything, or if he's working to get the deal to a doable level for me. I figure if I don't hear anything by the time I go back to work on Wednesday then I'm probably not going to get a response.

 

Well, got a response. He doesn't have the margin to get to my happy range, but I hadn't disclosed my max, and he left some of my questions unanswered. Feels like a bit of a brush off, but I really want this truck. @LarryDangerfield you're a bad influence!

I'm asking if I can get his trade number if I pull wheels, tires, exhaust, and armor. The suspension would go with the Tundra. I think I could get enough off those to hit my max number. If he clears it, the deal would be on.

 

I'd love one, but they cost even more than the taco.

Shot the Texas guy a text in case he missed my email last night. Hoping to talk over the mod pulling situation to find out if that's workable. I've only got a few days before I go back to work and wanna make this work if I can.

 

And he responded. He's gonna give me a call in about an hour.
