My brother is almost done with my M416.

    IMG_20220309_121506551.jpg

The problem is he has had so long I have gone a different direction since he received it. He's busy so I really didn't care how long he had it. Guess I will keep on building it since I totally restored it and now had this done to it.

Thank you. :hattip: The color is actually what put me in a Tundra over a 4Runner. Love the Cavalry Blue.

No way!! That’s funny although I love the handling of the 4Runner off road with minimal cheap upgrades. You can’t beat the power +space the tundra offers!

Yup. If there had still been a new 2018 TRD Pro 4Runner I would have got it, but there weren't any around when I was getting a rig. I'm happy about that now, though. Love the V8, and the interior room in the CrewMax is just amazing.

That was my only complaint with the Runner that it felt a bit underpowered but even still I’m thinking of turning in our suburban for another 4Runner since I have my v8 now haha

The 4Runner can get out of it's own way well enough, but if you want to wake it up you re-gear and toss on a SC. It'll scoot. The biggest downside to stock is that it the slower feel doesn't pay off with better MPG. It's almost as bad as a Tundra, but the Tundra doesn't feel underpowered. I'm kind of excited to see what the next gen 4Runner winds up being. I don't want one, but I wanna see how it plays out.

I do agree with the SC I was thinking of putting one on but now that it wouldn’t have to tow anything it wouldn’t bother me much. But the off road capabilities the 4Runner contained on just a simple Bilstein 5100 and icon coils It had really shocked

I have a brother that has a 4R and he loves it. Wound up getting bigger wheels and tires with an OME lift, and eventually SCed it. It's pretty sweet, but he said he's driven a friends with a re-gear and it's a bigger impact than the SC. He even reluctantly admitted that he kinda wished he had just gotten a V8 Tundra because the fuel economy wouldn't be any worse.

Honestly, the 4runner was so enticing for me with the Toyota reliability, off road capability, and great aftermarket support. Unfortunately the gas mileage and power was a big let down. Not to mention the price is on the high side and last but not least, to get awd you have to buy the expensive limited package, but if you wanted a locker then no awd. I too am excited to see the next 4runner but will not be holding my breath seeing how the new sequoia and tundra have been made more expensive and more than likely less reliable than their predecessors.

I'd rather have 4x4 than AWD personally. :notsure:

As for the new one, I'm excited to see what they do, but have zero interest in buying. I just like to window shop and see new goodies!

@GODZILLA Something to consider in your pending iKamper mini RTT order is fuel surcharges that may be added to an order. Just received an email from our beloved friends at RN stating that they will be adding a fuel surcharge starting in 2 weeks. Willing to bet iKamper will do the same. You may want to ask them about this.

I plan to contact some distributors. Not wanting to deal with the shipping issues I had on the roofnest and kayak. If it's to big for UPS I'm not getting it shipped. Freight just effs stuff up.

Check with Diamondback to see if they’ll have the 3.0 at some point. I trust their freight choice after having two covers delivered without issue, and their customer service is impeccable.

The end carriers in rural areas are different. The more times it changes carriers the greater the chances of damage or mishandling. Downside to living away from most people.

Understood. Based on my experience and others with DB, they would almost certainly replace the ikamper if it arrived damaged. They’re simply an awesome company to work with.

No doubt, but that's still down time and work to return. I don't have a garage for storage or installs, and I'm basically a one man show for it. One and done is my only real option.

I think FedEx has a higher weight for delivery than UPS. I believe their weight limit may be 150 lbs, but I could be wrong. The problem is that a RTT normally comes strapped to a pallet which requires freight delivery.

Yup. Less about the weight and more about the size. UPS/FedEx would beat it up worse if they got stuck with a RTT. Worked in a warehouse for years and had delivery drivers that dropped/abused anything awkward or heavy because they were being pissy. They don't care if you complain or put in a claim. They just blame it on inadequate packaging. Nobody takes pride in doing a job well anymore.

Can confirm. I used to load trucks and the people I worked with would routinely be unnecessarily rough with stuff if they were having a bad day or if it was especially heavy.

Yup. Anything that was an odd shape or heavy got beat to shit. LTL freight damage is usually because the guys loading don't give a crap and just ram pallets into the truck and stack things that shouldn't be stacked. The drivers just have a pallet jack to try and move stuff that was loaded by forklift.

In any case, I am hoping to be able to find a somewhat reasonable distance I can drive to get the next RTT. I'd much rather be able to inspect in at the place of purchase so that I can reject it on the spot if anything is amiss.

It's made in Korea, but there are distributors all over the country (world). Their US HQ is in Kent (Seattle) WA.

I like this design because it isn't a wedge top and gives you more head room.

I can see the appeal, but I'm short. The GFC is plenty for me, but I'm doing a less expensive RTT anyway.
