In a perfect world, sure. But in the reality of small companies working with Chinese manufacturing, they are at the mercy of the manufacturer. These tents are packed up at the factory and then Shipped to LA. They offload in LA and remain there. RoofNest is in CO and the orders are dropped shipped out of LA. At least this is the route mine took. So in my case, RoofNest never even saw the tent much less have the ability to inspect

In my world and the dealing I’ve known with Chinese manufacturing the only way to assure QA was to have a team onsite at the manufacturer and correct issues at the source.

Drop shipped from the port? Oof. It’s a poor business model. Obviously they want to avoid paying for freight twice, but there’s certainly some lessons to be learned here.

I am definitely skipping roofnest. It’ll be an iKamper or SA/USA made tent for me.

My tent went from LA to Denver, and then to me. They also have the ding and dent sale items, so they have to have some kind of inspection. They just need to do better with it.

Was the stop on Denver prolonged or was it just a Freight exchange? Mine came from LA but made a couple of freight exchanges in a couple of other cities.

If you get the iKamper, I’m defiantly interested in hearing your review.

I don't know how long it was there because the tracking was shit for reliability. I got a notification it was delivered with the destination as Denver. By the time I got a response about it the tent showed up at the warehouse, and I picked it up. I didn't dig after that.

Sounds to me like Denver was the “last mile” carrier. I still don’t think RN ever saw the tent.

Looks pretty cool. Seen these in the past but this step looks better for muddy/wet boots. What size Baja M/T tire is the step sitting on? Still need to measure my tire width.

Yea, this step is better then most of the others and gets high reviews. My MTs are 35’s and the step can work with up to 13” wide tires.

Nope. Nothing but crickets. It's been a less than stellar experience from the get go, so I'm not sure I'm not just going to push for a full refund.

You should push for a full refund even if you turn around and buy the same tent.

Today marks 2 weeks since roofnest's last response. I have emailed twice in that time and heard nothing. Tomorrow I go back to work, and I'll have to use my lunch break to call them I guess.

Less than pleased and very tempted to tell them I either want more than double what they're offering as a partial refund plus parts to fix the broken product I was shipped, a brand new tent that they inspect before shipping to me, or a full refund of the purchase price and they pay all shipping costs and make all shipping arrangements.

Yea, I have not heard from them either on the parts they are supposed to ship to me. Let me know what they say when you call them. Feel free to mention that you have a buddy that purchased the same tent as well and he has not heard anything on the shipping of parts he was supposed to get either. Figure if they know that customers are talking to each other it may light a fire.

I think they should be more worried about their customers lighting a fire for the pitchforks and torches. I am patient as long as I'm in the loop, but just flat being ignored is a surefire way to get me to go scorched earth. I don't have any social media, but I'll create it just to have another avenue of burning their business to the ground, all of which are figurative. I would not cause them actual harm, but I will be insanely loud and I know one of the Utah news stations loves covering businesses that are screwing customers. Utah is a huge market for RTTs and its right in their back yard.

Seems like you have been overly patient and hopeful that they will do the right thing. They have shown they won't, unless forced, if at all. Take the gloves off.

Well, I sent the following to them. We'll see what they say.

    Good morning.

It's been 2 weeks since I last had a response stating that the info I would need would be ready "in the next couple of days." I did say I am patient, but that only applies if I'm being kept in the loop.

I'm in touch with another customer who is also waiting for a response to his issues with the same tent, and I can't help but feel like some kind of delay tactic to push beyond a return window is being employed here. To say I'm not pleased with this utter silence would be a gross understatement.

At this point I am heavily leaning toward returning this fiasco for a full refund, or for a new/different tent. It arrived damaged and unusable, two weeks of zero response, and if I have to take it off the truck to basically rebuild the thing (swap the canvas, rain fly, and the struts) then I don't really want it. I didn't order a tent kit; I ordered a complete and ready to use product, and for the price charged this is unacceptable.

It whistles loudly and continuously at speeds above 55 MPH. I have not even tested the lights, and at this point I'm afraid to. The more I look at this unit the worse it gets.

    Please respond.

I would consider something like that, but I have to be able to haul my RZR too!

This is the first post about it whistling. This past Friday, I believe, was the first time I drove anywhere over 55 and the whistle just gets louder the faster you go. At this point, I'm thinking I might just push for a full refund and put that money toward a Go Fast Camper. https://gofastcampers.com/pages/platform-camper-2022 They are expensive as hell, but they are actually built in the U.S.A. and they install it for you too. I'd be on site to check it all out and get any errors corrected on the spot. I had originally tried to arrange to pick up my Roofnest for this exact purpose, but they don't allow it. Now I see why.

Right? Well, when I started this endeavor I didn't have the budget, but if I get a refund on the Roofnest and combine that with the dollars I got when I sold my RS1... BOOM! Go Fast is in reach. Then I just have to unload the CaliRaisedLED bed rack somewhere.

The lead times on the GFC are serious from what I’ve heard, but that’s literally (price aside) the only negative I’ve seen.
You’re close enough to Denver to have some college-aged broverlander pick that rack up. :D

No prob man, don't blame ya at all!
Do it! Longevity and resale value is another plus for GFC.
