I mostly hammock camp in all weather conditions, this craftsman changed my game. Way easier to organize than totes. We keep all the campsite stuff in if from pots and pans to lifters bulbs and koozies. 243D0DC7-69D4-4A6F-B998-6DBD834AF6A7.jpg

Yea, I had shavings in mine as well. I didn’t think anything of it at the time and I quickly vacuumed them up when I opened it to retrieve the hardware kit. I assume it’s from drilling the holes.

Edit: Sorry about the rack damage. Those crossbars….WTH?

Bought mine at lowes for $99 think it’s a 5in1 toolbox or something like that. It holds a ton. Everything we need. Got rid of the big tote I had with all the clear totes inside.

The shavings seem to be normal with the chinese tents and was caused during the manufacturing process, they simply don't clean it up.

EDIT OOPS: looks like this was already answered.

I beleave you are correct. It is my opinion that all of the brands that offer tents manufactured there are simply branded with their own name and really have no say as to the design and quality assurance.

Yeah there is probably one or two factories there and the different vendors submit their designs for manufacturer. IMO

My new 23Zero tent had some shavings in it too, but not nearly that bad. It seems like they're doing machining and drilling as some of the last steps before throwing it in the box. Must be faster to do it that way but then you end up with stuff like this. The other damage to the tent and the mess on the bed rack sucks though.

Got it installed. The wear is visible on the inside too. Wondering if I got a refurb..

Didn't put the Awning sticks in, so these are the only pics.

Those look like caused by the ladder. Most likely all the bouncing around during transport.

BTW, does your fold out floor lay naturally flat when folded out or does it lay at a slight angle with a bounce spring like fashion?

No. Best case I might hear something Monday, but we'll see.

Absolutely was the ladder. Its cover shows rub marks as well. The velcro strap to hold it wasnt secure either, so it could move quite a bit i think. Plus, everything was piled right in the middle of the tent directly under the wear.

It's got a spring to it. Nothing major.

Is yours stupid hard to close on the front/cab side? I have to climb a ladder and half lay on it to get the latch to be able to catch. Triple checked the tent fabric to make sure it's not in the way, and that latch is basically impossible from the ground. Doesn't help that I'm short, but still.

Mine was difficult to close at first but learned to pull as much fabric on top of the floor and then lay the remaining fabric on the side as vertical and close to the floor as possible. It’s gotten easier now I can reach pull down on the case and easily latch it.

My floor had some spring to it as well and like you didn’t think much of it. That changed on a multi day camping adventure that had to be abruptly aborted. On the 3rd day we had steady rain all day. We were not in the tent during the day but when we returned, there was a steady stream of water coming in dead center of the tent. Everything in the tent was soaked. I mean it was a fish bowl inside. Once home, I performed a detailed analysis.
    • Since the floor did not lay completely flat (spring like) and no weight on that side of the floor, it caused the tent material to relax on top forming a bowl on top.
    • They sewed a clear vinyl window on top of the rain fly. Doing so also created 2 long seams on top of the rain fly that also had to be sewed.
    • The sewing of the clear vinyl window is done incorrectly. Well at least by US marine standards for seeing clear vinyl to canvas.
    • The combination of the spring floor causing a bowl on the rain fly along with the incorrect sewing of window allowed water to easily flow through the top into the tent.
I have had extensive contact with RoofNest and they are truly wanting to help. They’ve been in touch with the manufacturer and the following will be done:

    1. We all came to the consensus that the side struts may be a bit too long allowing the case to open too much this pulling on the material and not allowing the floor to lay flat.
    2. The manufacturer is gong to make the struts a bit shorter to solve this. They agreed to send me a new set of struts.
    3. They refuse to remove the clear vinyl window from the rain fly and also will not change the way it is sewed to the canvas.
    4. Because of #3, I built a top bar that will always keep the top of the tent in an”A” shape preventing any trapping of water on the roof.
    5. See the pics below for the top bar. If interested, I can send you the parts list from Lowes and Home Depot to build your own. BTW, not drilling is needed for this bar. It attaches using everything that is already there.

I have no idea. The Condor Overlander is their newest tent and @AzureNightmare and I are early adopters.

This is one of the reasons that I think the overseas manufacturer is the one controlling the design and not RoofNest. I believe it is the manufacturer who is the one who will not change the rainfly and the way it is built. I could be wrong but this is what my gut is telling me.

You would think that with their name on the tent Roofnest would still have a validation process on a new product, along with some QC in place. Tents come in, open them up, clean out shavings, check the fabric, properly pack them back up, and so forth. Instead it seems like the design isn’t vetted and all they do is reship the product.

@Caliraisedled responded with a PM. They told me to email or call their customer service number. So, customer contacts you with an issue and your response is "have you contacted us about this?" Not exactly getting my hopes up. Expecting to get a run around before this goes anywhere.
