Seems I remember some broken axle issues when that hot rod hit the market! Heard new tundra could go. Like my 16 too much to part with

I replaced both rear wheel bearing in wife's '08 Lexus SUV in the last year. One at 170k, the other at 173k. That's a normal mileage scenario for bearing replacement.
Bad @ 25k is simply a defective part, and $1200 for the job is a farce. Sorry to read you had to shell that.

Ouch! Did you do those yourself? My first toyota and I am finding most repairs on these trucks are not that difficult. On the major stuff definitely need someone with the "tools".

I do 95% of repairs myself. Haven't done the 2-2.5 gen Tundra bearing, but the only really exciting part about bearing replacement on the Lexus is using a breaker bar through the wheel hubcap opening for bearing nut removal and then re-install. Dimple the (preferably new) nut detent to lock the assembly.

If on a hill the 2020 I have holds the brake on when you let off the brake pedal. Are you saying the truck doesn't move forward when releasing the brake on a flat road? Where I come from that's a slipping transmission. :D

This has always bugged me. Salesmen have also told me to floor cars when test driving. The owners' manuals clearly say to avoid hard accelerations until broken in. So, can you imagine how many people have "floored" the "new" car you are about to buy? Could this be why some motors have failed in new cars? Once again, proving dealerships don't give a sxhit about customers. They only care about making a sale or selling a service at any expense. I know some people are going to say that motors are tested and "floored" in the manufacturing process, but Toyota still says it must be broken in properly. They say that for a reason and I'm going to believe them first over some guy on the internet.

Thanks mountaingroan, have the space, tundra has 150k.Imagine that will be coming sooner than later and with that said probably do it myself. By the way folks the 14 sequoia with the tailgate latch gremlin is r and r ! Works great, thanks for the advice/tips.
Anyone ever run the Goodyear u/t 's? Put a set on the tundra (without studs) and they seem to run on top of the snow, kinda squirrelly sometimes. They look the part but not sure

Rx3 I feel ya! No matter what the engine needs the break in. Back in the day that's why they had dealer demo's that salesman drove home. It's tempting for sure, especially with a torqqy, horsepower truck.

Did lots of them in the shop. It's not bad to do and I could do them in a couple of hours but you do need a shop press and the tool for pulling the bearing off the axle. Unfortunately I don't have a place to do it here on Florida.

The truck holds the brake ON the same as you would sitting on flat ground waiting for a red light to turn green. Just a feature so you don't have to keep your foot on the brake. The trans isn't slipping. As soon as you touch the throttle, the brake is released.

That's different. I wonder if that is part of the text and drive package.
