    growing up in the '60's in south Louisiana was an easier carefree time, ate lots of rice and beans. Lived in a 4 room shotgun house with no a/c..summertime cooling was an attic fan and open windows and wintertime heat consisted of a gas floor furnace. I thought I was in high cotton when I went to the store with 25 cents and could get a Big Giant R/C Cola and a Honey Bun and come home with change in my pocket, tried college and found it not to be for me and then started doing the "adult thing" and been at it ever since.

    Yep, we survived. At night I would pull my bed under the window and with that attic fan working it would get downright chilly at times. And since we had the aluminum awnings that covered the windows when it rained there was no better sleeping at night.
