We're still family. I stayed in Midtown in 2019 for a wedding. Good times.

Take any pictures of the blower clean up? This is something I need to get done bigly.

No pictures, sorry. It’s three T25 head screws and one plug. Mine had a couple of leaves and some schmutz wrapped around the fan motor shaft. There’s some bearing play in mine, so the noise didn’t go completely away. Simple project.

IMG_1286.HEIC.jpg IMG_1289.HEIC.jpg Not much more progress on the truck while I wait for the UPS truck to pull up with a few odds and ends. Had a few minutes this morning and gave the Tundra a quick wash to knock the scuzz off between the never ending rain days here in the Mid-South. She looks pretty darn good, all things considered!

A couple of quick updates on the 473k mile Tundra:

    • New Akebono front brake pads & hardware installed. Easiest brake job in the world. I bought new OEM rotors, but didn't need them. Old pads were down almost to the backing plate.
    • Attempted to change out the serpentine belt, but the Continental that Rock Auto sent me (6K2245) is about an inch too short. Frustrating. I have a Gates belt & idler pulley sitting on the workbench ready to go in this week.
    • New Denso air filter.
    • Changed the oil with Mobil 1 5w-30 and Toyota filter. Cut open the old Bosch filter to check for crud - none to be found. I was half expecting at least a little sparkle, but it was clean as a whistle, as was the oil. Sending the old oil sample out to Blackstone for a baseline analysis and will report back their findings.IMG_1307.HEIC.jpg
    • Most of the rest of the bulbs have been changed out. Someone had "upgraded" to cheap LEDs that were failing in various ways. Back to the old school filament bulbs.
    • I've put 150 or so miles on it, and it just hums along. Could not be more impressed with this truck!

If only this was the F150 forum and we were discussing a 2006 ford..... That would be impressive!
I can't say that I'm surprised by your reports. These really were some of the best built vehicles.

Curious did you hear about those brake pads from scotty kilmer on youtube? I've only ever heard of them from him. Haven't seen them mentioned many other places, not that I've been looking/researching brake pads.

Nice truck, impressive mileage. Be sure to check that timing belt. 90k or 9 years. When in doubt, change it out!!

Welcome and what a good looking ride esp with that mileage. Gives me hope that my 2007 will make it to 400k.

AT first glance I thought that picture was your timing belt!

Akebono is/was OEM manufacturer for Toyota.

Correct, it's the OEM equivalent. Used them on my last 100 Series and thought they worked well.

Welcome from DFW area. I wanted to caution you on buying a low mileage Toyota.
Most people would be skeptical of that. I have same color truck. Enjoy the next 500K

Question about the brakes: did you get the rotors turned? You didn't put new pads on old rotors, right?

Not much new to report on the high mile Tundra. I've been using it in my rental home business. The blower motor died, and I have a new one ready to go in. Other than that, it's just motoring right along.

I got the oil analysis back from Blackstone Labs - attached here. Pretty interesting reading.

    I dunno, I didn't create that spreadsheet :D

But on that note, I saw a 70k mile 1st Gen here on ATL Craigslist for $16k this week.
