Does the 3rd gen dash mount easily in place of the 2nd gen dash or do you have to do a lot of modification to make it work?

Quick answer that 99% of the bolt holes lined right up. I pulled the old bolts out and put them right back in holding in the new dash. I did have to do some minor modifications. The biggest issue I saw was the brackets the radio bolt to are 3-4 inches to far toward the passenger side console. The steel brackets mount to the dash support steel tube. The newer radios are shifter left closer to the driver.

I pulled the passenger side air bag and wiring out of my 2007 dash and layed it all in the 2015 dash. The harness and everything inside will be 2007 with a 2015 cover on top of it. I am repining some connectors and switches right now.

Just working on finalizing the install, mainly wiring. I have a 2018+ steering wheel and gauge cluster coming and am working on wiring in the steering wheel controls and newer gauges. After that the radio is all that will be left and I can decide if I go stock or aftermarket.

I really like the 2014+ dash and actually prefer it over my 2010, but don't like the prices of the newer trucks. :) I'll be curious what your thoughts are on difficulty once you are all done.

Yes, I am like 95% done with a full interior swap. I installed the center console and new carpet over the weekend. Seats are set in the truck mocked in place and doing wiring now.

The dash is essentially done with a factory nav unit for the radio. The glove box is currently not installed but I do have it. I got all the bugs worked out so no warning lights or anything on the dash. All the dash buttons have the correct leds for color with lights on and they all work properly.

Just a bunch of loose ends to tie up and it will be a complete 3rd gen interior in a 2nd gen truck.

Sorry I read this and forgot to come back and add some photos. Anyway I just went through my picture collection and grabbed a few to share quickly. I have ALOT of photos for my entire build. When the truck is done I want to make like a youtube video that cycles through all the progress/photos

I have made more progress since these were taken. Have new carpet, seats, and full center console installed.

There's a guy on youtube that has videos of the work he's doing on the conversion to 3rd gen on their 2nd gen.
Here's part 1 of the video but if you look in their channel, you can see the other videos.

This is awesome. Is there a difference on the gauge cluster connector/ pin outs between 2013 and 2014? What about up to '17?

I stumbled across his videos when I was doing my front end swap in March. He was taking his front end apart and I was putting my new one on. I guess I could have waited for more of his videos but I never went back to see if he posted more updates.

It is my understanding the wiring for the 2007-2013 trucks are the same at the connector into the panel. I would have to double check a diagram from a 2013 to be sure. When I did mine I used a 2007 wiring diagram and a 2015 diagram.

Then the 2014-2017 ones should all be the same also, but these are different from the 2007-2013 ones. It is the majority of the same wires, they are just in different pin locations.

In 2018 the cluster was upgraded again when Toyota added the Safety Sense system to all the Tundras. The 2018+ wiring is different from the 2014-2017, matter of fact the 2018 cluster has 2 wiring plugs in the back. All the older models only have 1 single plug/connector.

    Thanks.

    I put a 13 Optiron in my 10 Tundra.

I'd like something newer without the "portholes" in my 13 Sequoia.

There is a 14 Tundra cluster on eBay for 80 bucks maybe I'll gamble.

    Thanks

I have had guys ask me a about making a plug and play harness to put the 14+ cluster in an 2007-2013 truck. The wiring is easy. The problem is mounting and the difference in dash trim ect

The 2014 sequoia cluster mounts the same as the 2014 Tundra cluster?

if so that would be an easy swap

I think the 2008-2017 Sequoia dash is the same as the 2007-2013 Tundra. If you got the 2014-2017 Tundra cluster to work on the 2nd gen Tundra, it should work on the 2nd gen Sequoia (pre 2018) too.

If you ended up that deep into it with the wiring diagrams and harnesses and etc, did you happen to find a way to have the dash be permanently illuminated? Also looks good by the way

You mean where the dash is like your headlights are on 24/7? It seems almost all of the lights run on an illumination circuit. I dont think it would be hard to put that circuit on a separate toggle switch or a relay that turns on with the ignition switch. As soon as the key comes on everything lights up and stays that way day or night.

Exactly gauge cluster lit up all the time and headlights off, I've seen a bunch of threads on it for a long time, don't think anyone has found a solution yet

Very nice!! How hard was it to get the new dash mounted up to the existing brackets? Any gotchas?

No it snapped right in place where the old one came out. As I mentioned earlier, the steel brackets for the radio have to be removed as the newer dash center stack is shifted closer to the driver.

Kind of hard to tell but the radio location it further to the right in the 07-13 trucks.
    Dash 1.jpg

These two brackets in the red circle will be in the way of the new dash.

Thank you OP for taking the time to post this.

Any chance you recall the correlating pins between the 07 climate control harness and 15 climate control?

    Sure, 2007 is 16 pin connector. The 2014+ is a 8 pin.

The hazard switch is on the newer AC control panel so you have to wire that in. Also you will need to change the AC amp.

The 2007-2013 trucks have dual zone AC which means the blend doors for driver and passenger side operate on their own individual servos. The 2014+ AC is only single zone and the driver side servo controls one blend door for both sides of the cab. As of right now the 2014+ AC controls and AC amp do not control the passenger temp settings in my truck. Mine is just stuck on full Cold AC since it is summer time. I will fix this eventually, just not sure how yet.

If you can you might want to swap the full HVAC box inside the dash. This might be the easiest solution.
