I have a 22 and love it. I have the Hybrid so am not involved in the engine recall as of yet, but could care less. Give me a new engine for my 2 year old truck sounds awesome.

Appears some have a lot of issues, or maybe just like to complain a lot. I would Buy another tomorrow.

BTW I sold a 2012 Platinum for this

it’s a good time to tundra shop for options , I would recommend a 24 or 25 as the 25s will be out anytime now and the 24s are being discounted big time due to market pressure

Just my opinion , but, I would skip the 22, I skipped it for a while as well and didn’t buy until spring 23 when they had built a bunch of trucks and were on the second year run. So far that has worked out great as I have a solid truck and the build quality is much better than the early 22 I test drove .

If you do go 22, drive on the highway and check for wind noise #1 !!

if you don’t mind a truck with a lot older feeling and way less ride comfort and creature comforts , look around for a 20-21 with low miles and good maintenance records , the trade off there, if well maintained, is it shouldn’t have any problems

for me, I traded my 2016 tundra platinum and i would do it again in a heart beat, this truck is better in every way for my usage and tows awesome

if you tow or haul a lot and going gen 3, get the auto level rear air , it’s simply awesome

    Tunrods list of common issues

    Radio knobs break

    Seat plastics break

Excessive wind noise and whistle from both side view mirrors

    Something rattling in driver's backrest

    Seat track covers falling off

Turbos catch fire and must be replaced every 150-250k, according to Toyota

Fluctuating battery voltage causing stalls or failure to start

    Fuel tank recall

    Engine failures

    Premature fuel pump failures

Cheap caps on end of rear bumper come off in car washes

    Terrible turn radius vs. Gen2/2.5

Smaller cab on outside and inside vs. Gen2/2.5, even with CrewMax

    Smaller windows than Gen2/2.5

    Windshields not installed straight

Cheesy fake engine sounds pushed thru the radio

Cost MUCH more than a low mileage Gen2/2.5 with a Magnuson supercharger installed, which goes faster and pulls better than anything that can be done with a v6

Cracking and peeling of the spray in bedliner

The panoramic roof will leak just like they do on exotic European vehicles0

When the tank is 3/4 full and park on an incline, the gas gauge incorrectly resets itself to full

    Door windows rattle

    Rear window rattling when down

    Rattle coming from headliner

    Center console rattles and creaks

Passenger knee trim pops out and has to be replaced

Door card/interior panels pull off too easily

Seats cracking in the 1st year

Seals on all windows and doors wear out quickly

Blinding glare of hood due to angle

    Heater not blowing hard enough

    AC not blowing hard enough

Tailgates falling off in owners hands, resulting in damage to the tailgate and possible injury to the owner

Worse MPG than Gen2/2.5 because the engine is working harder, particularly when pulling a trailer uphill"

No, it's larger outside dimensions, while slightly smaller inside dimensions.

I did the exact same thing. Long time Toyota owner, went with Ram eco diesel 1500, owned for 18 months, then sold it for 24 platinum hybrid. Rams poor service center in SoCal, 2-3 week minimum wait to get a service, and expensive maintenance were enough for me to call it quits. The sad part is that I like the ram interior more than my new tundra interior. Ram had recalls they had no intention of fixing any time soon.

I do love my new tundra, but the interior storage is lacking and the bump in the middle of the rear floorboard is annoying.

I’m happy returning to easy same week services though. Scheduled my 10k service last night for today at 12.

Just curious as to why you are already getting rid of the RAM OP, Does it have issues already?

IDK, I'd almost say that anyone buying a Ram in the first place needs an intervention! ;-)

Go drive one with the 5.7 E-torque. You'll understand why they are purchased.

Maybe, but after the initial romance and thrill fades, you are left needing a quick divorce.

Drives like a dream, very comfortable with nice power. Mine has the larger screen with AC seats etc. Coming from an 11 sr5 tundra is was a night and day difference. However apparently rear window leaks are a common and acceptable issue with ram and their owners. There are other issues but a wet interior is the big one for me. Most of the issues are covered but the fix is to replace with the same defective part that will ultimately fail again

Meh. I had one and it was too anemic for me. Got rid of it for a 6.2 Silverado...much better. Now I have the 3.4TT and I have no regrets.

You had the e-torque? If you did and you call that anemic I can't take you serious in any fashion. Hell, the 5.7 with good gears isn't anemic. If you expect sports car performance out of a truck you are shopping the wrong market. Trucks aren't fast. If they are, they usually aren't very good at truck stuff.

Yep. It even had the 3.92 rear. The lift and 35's didn't help, but I was not at all satisfied with the performance...it was a slug. The 6.2 with equivalent lift/tires was vastly better. Now, my Tundra with lift and 35's is peppy enough and I'm pretty satisfied. Looking at the JB4 just to play around with and maybe get back the feel of the power loss with the big, heavy tires.

One thing I regret is not giving the ford trucks a test drive to see I like those offerings better.

I ended up with a 24 Tundra, low miles. Not as many bells and whistles as the RAM but I really like it. What's everyone doing with the Toyota app? Seems like it collects data (so does my smart phone) which sucks but remote start is nice, my remote doesn't have a remote start button so that feature would be nice.
hope to put a level on, new wheels and some 33s+

Toyota doesn't put a separate button on the FOB for remote start. Hit the lock button 3 times at a measured pace and hold it on the 3rd. Hold it longer than you think it should take.
