The estimated combined mileage is NOT your combined mileage. Your results may very. But it sounds like you don’t understand

You should probably sell this truck because it really seems to stress you out for what ever reason. Or stop comparing it to anything on the planet and just drive and enjoy it

    Ask again.

Do you let it idle a lot or any?

no. It has been good weather. Also the remote start only works through the app and it cuts off whenever you open the door. So almost no idle time.

and I know you can hit the lock button 3 times. But it’s super unreliable. I used to start my ram from across the parking lot at work. Probably only works from 50 feet on the Tundra.

don’t feel like losing my @$$. And I like the truck overall. I just posted because I wanted to know what other people’s experiences were to see if my vehicle was an anomaly. If everyone gets crap fuel economy, then I know I didn’t get a defective unit.

I don’t understand why I am the problem when all I’m asking is why my vehicle somehow gets worse MPG than the old V8 in a V6 with an electric assist.

if the answer is the truck gets crap MPG, then I can forget about it and just know I screwed up but at least I get a sweet ride. If everyone else is getting normal fuel economy then there is a problem. Also maybe I help someone make a decision if they know the vehicle is fairly inefficient.

I swear the yota fanbois of this tundra forum are on another level.

Op, I've owned multiple vehicles and multiple Toyotas, all of them met or exceeded EPA mpg, this tundra is the first vehicle I have ever owned that struggles to even obtain EPA.

All you others act like this is the normal for all Toyotas (nowhere near EPA), it's not.

I don’t seem to get more than 14 city and 19 highway, 17 combined but suppose to get 17 city, 19 combined and 23 highway. Please keep me updated as I would like to know if there is some calibration issues.

I don't let mine idle hardly any. Start it let run for maybe 30 seconds and drive.

It’s not a huge deal to me. With that said, it’s pretty annoying that even with a hybrid (I know it’s for power supplementation) the mileage is such shit.

This is my first Toyota and my Tundra doesn't even have 2K on it yet so I'm not concerned about my MPG numbers at the moment. Once it's fully broken in if I get around the EPA numbers, great...if not, don't really care (unless we were talking 50% then I might be concerned). That being said, the 4 other vehicles I have purchased new in the last 20 years (2005 Nissan Pathfinder, 2011 Ford Explorer, 2013 Subaru Crosstrek, and 2019 Acura RDX) all got/get less than EPA. YMMV :D

Toyota advertises the same highway mileage for hybrid as regular. Not exactly an mpg focused strategy

It’s crazy because my 2008 5.7 gets 15mpg consistently with it being lifted with 33” and about 500lbs in bed constantly and I have a lead foot :burnrubber:

I should have addressed that. It’s not. I don’t drive like a maniac but I’m also not trying to get the best mileage possible every time I get in the truck. Either way, I got better mileage in my 19 ram limited lol. It regularly got 19.

Yeah, I noticed the first fuel tank I got after picking it from the dealer it was 15-16 mpgs
the second tank running premium fuel mixed with mid grade it returned 16.5-17 mpgs
third tank all premium it is running at 18-19 mpgs now or showing 18.7 combined.

I have less than 1k miles on the ODO, so I would think that you will probably need to break the truck in more before you get better mileage.

I doubt it’s his foot. He mentioned the feedback from the app says his driving habits are excellent. I drive like a granma, it has over 10k miles on it now and I get 14 city, 17 highway on the base SR trim. I wish there was something that can be done to get closer to EPA. But I feel validated that it’s not just me.

I don't think the problem is that the mileage is what it is. Lot's of us still would have purchased a Tundra. The problem is it's not getting what they said it would and I see no problem with people being upset by that. I drive mostly in town and don't flirt with the claimed 18mpg. I guess they lean heavily on the "estimated" and "up too" verbiage.

All of my previous few rides got EPA easily without trying, I really try with tundra and it just won't happen.

2017 ram ecoD, got better then EPA
2014 ram hemi, got better then EPA
2014.5 Camry hybrid, got better then EPA
2010 Camry hybrid, got better then EPA
2005 Frontier, got better then EPA

My 22 tundra struggles - just does not get anywhere near EPA.

I am pretty sure these things run differently from vehicle to vehicle, try to find that poster who owns a limited and drove a SR5 for some reason and complained the sr5 had 0 lag and drove like a bat outa hell and his limited had crazy lag.

My truck seems like that with no lag even in eco mode - 0 complaints from me, and I came from a ecoD where I had ECU engine and tranny tune to help eliminate turbo lag

I wonder if the mileage differences are from the pavement princess models and off-road models. I have 2WD, the active shutters and air dam and get 18 without trying.

It could be, I have a 1794 Hybrid bone stock , I am not even trying to get good mileage and have zero problems crankin out 25-29 MPG on the highway. I love this thing. Cant wait for my Carista and shut off that F'n fake engine

Stock 23 Plat., non-hybrid........19.6 mixed (maybe 60% city-40% country roads). Not done alot of Hwy. yet but did a 1 hour trip and it was over 22 mpg (65mph). Thats calculated with the on board only.

Nothing wrong with that. Difference could be the Hybrid system....quite often I will be ripping along at 60-65 , look at the dash and the engine is off and the Hybrid system is powering the truck

I didn't realize the Hybrid kicked in at that speed, thats sweet. My wifes Rav Hybrid woud kick out around 45 but sadly her drive is mostly Hwy. so we ended up trading it in for a 21 Nissan Altima (FWD) and she gets over 45mpg.

Honestly when I bought the truck I was under the assumption it was over 30 MPH it was basically disabled. Its been a pleasant surprise. best results are on cruise control.....probably because a computer is smarter than me hahahaha

I have a Hybrid TRD packed 4 wheel drive model and I am getting 18.8 right now. No air dam but do have the shutters. I am sure it will go down once I put the A/T 3 tires on it but right now it is doing pretty well.

I noticed though that the computer in cruise control tends to get way better mileage then when my foot is doing all the work.
