Honestly, I don't really "need" a truck anymore, but when I do, it is usually a "right then" kinda thing. If I were to get rid of my Tundra it would be for a smaller crew cab like maybe the new Canyon. Either that or new 4Runner. One of the guys in my station has a '20 Taco that I have looked at a couple of times, and I just don't really like the interior/console area.

We were sitting on our '12 Tundra CrewMax for a few years, we just weren't driving it. Then we sold it. Then... we needed a truck again. So we bought an '05 Tundra. Fits our needs.

sold my 18 1794 back in August. we are getting ready to go full time RVing and needed a vehicle we could flat tow. can't do that with a Tundra or pretty much any other Toyota vehicle. maybe a RAV4 or something like that but I had no interest in that.

ended up with a 21 Jeep Gladiator Mojave. it's a LOT smaller inside and not near the ride the Tundra gave us, but it's not too bad. found a smoking deal on a 21 that had only 1,400 miles on her and was loaded. purchased it from a family and their dad had just purchased it six months before he passed away.

i will say them Jeep folks are accustomed to having to go the dealer more than any Toyota I ever owned in 30+ years of owning them. you can get aftermarket products for them but that ain't cheap either.

If you're gonna downsize, at least upgrade the trim! Went from an SR5 Tundra to a TRD Pro Tacoma. I don't regret it.

Nice man. Do does Tacomas have enough space on the back for a car seat? Or is it small?

I don't have kids, so IDK. I think it would depend on the car seat. I can get some measurements if you'd like, but I imagine the bigger bulkier car seats of today would be a bit of a struggle.

Nice Pro. I thought about going back to a Tacoma Pro. But after having my Tundra Pro hard to give up this V8 sound and power.

What was the reason for going to the Tacoma?

and yes, if you could get measurements, that would be awesome!

Plans changed. Originally I was planning on more passengers and towing a travel trailer. I wanted s Taco to start with, but didn't think it'd fit my plans.

I can count on one hand the number of times I've had passengers in the back seat, and since getting my RTT I have no interest in a travel trailer. Traded for the truck I really wanted.

It's bitter cold out. I'll stick my tape measure with my key fob so I can snag measurements tomorrow on a break.

Another Landy fan here, I'm British, why the heck would anyone assume I'd want anything else.

In an ideal world I'd have another Series IIa, but for the fact that they are like rocking horse shit on this side of the pond, I'd be changing the half shafts more often than my underpants, no heat, no air conditioning, no way of keeping mosquitoes out from poorly fitting doors, 15mpg, no cruise control and a 1500 dollar piece of crap in the UK would fetch upwards of 20k here.

I'd settle for a Defender with the 300tdi engine but those are even more stupid money than the IIa's.

There is nothing else I would consider trading my tundra for. The only reason I would consider selling is if I need more payload/towing capacity.

They will fit, but it is small. My driver's seat pushed against a rear facing car seat, and was close to a front facing seat. 4+ y/o kids can almost knee your seat backs.

A 4 runner, or corolla would be a much better choice for car seats than a crew cab tacoma.

Kids, long road trips, plus towing was just too much for the Tacoma, landing me on this forum.

My point was just if he's considering a 250, a 350 is only a little more money and much more capable. Since Toyota doesn't make a heavy duty truck, there's no point in getting upset.

I'll put it to you this way: we have one car seat in the back of my wife's 2013 Corolla now and we could probably put a second one back there if we had too. As long as you're not excessively tall, it's not that uncomfortable for the front passengers. So do you think a new Taco has more space than a 10 year old Corolla?

I'd go to something smaller. I haven't needed the capability as much as I thought and the Tundra is a little tough to maneuver whenever I have to drive into Atlanta.

Now, it's not exact as the seats can move, but I have marked where I measured on the pic below as line 1 and line 2. I'm short, but have long legs for my height. Most people 6 feet or less don't slide my seat back if they drive after me. I do however sit more upright than many, so the numbers are pretty similar. You might get lower numbers if you are over 6 feet tall and if you recline the back of the seat.
    1. Approximately 24 inches
    2. Approximately 25.5 inches

Thanks man! I’m right at 6ft. Yeah unfortunately, that’s too small for a car seat.

The tundra works really well for us at the moment. Thanks again!

IF I hit the lotto, I would be driving a new Raptor with the supercharged V8 only because it's just ridiculous. In other words, I'll be keeping the Tundra until I die. Seriously though, one of the main reasons I leaned toward the Tundra was that I will NEVER drive an electric piece of crap, especially now with it being about a half century before the country is ready for them to be reasonable to own, charge, drive, etc. So I figured with the stories of going hundreds of thousands of miles before they end their useful life, the Tundra was an obvious choice. Add to that the fact that every time I've been without a V8, I've regretted it and here I am. Waiting until Spring for my poor, pitiful wallet to cool off after Christmas spending for everyone and then the dirty deeds exhaust will complete the "must have" options.
