I was super impressed with the mileage as well. Huge vehicle, good power and 20+ mpg. We had rented a Denali XL a couple years ago as well and we were impressed then (That one didn't die on us). So rented one again, that one failed us miserably. Started running rough then several warning lights/messages. Pulled over and shut it down for a bit. Started it back up and it was still running rough and was smoking real bad. All this on a tight schedule to drive 6 hours to a funeral. Then deal with towing, replacement rental, kids, mother in law, dogs, etc. It was not a pleasant experience.

Been driving Toyotas exclusively for over 20 years, not since my 87 pickup 22r distributor went out when I was a young lad has one left me on the side of the road. For GM products I made it about a week before it happened. Haha.

I also had a Suburban in the bay area. This was the previous gen with the 5.3L and 6 speed. I drove if from SFO to Yosemite, all around Yosemite, back to downtown San Fran and back to SFO and averaged like 21 mpg I think.

The GM V8's are efficient. But I also think some of it is aero and tires. My Suburban had a air dam that was basically a few inches off the ground and had "green" efficiency all seasons on it.

I think you might be on to something. It looks almost identical to the Lexus LX 600 rear window, and that has dimensions much closer to the 4Runner than the Sequoia. It looks to me like more of a 5 passenger instead of a true three row, large SUV. The mule that has been spotted testing has a squared off back, not angled like in that image. [IMG]

I don't care what it looks like, what I care about is the nuts and bolts. Chao's speculations about the nuts and bolts are inline with my thinking, they will try to match some of the LC300 offroad capability and keep it in a reasonable price point. Ultra-luxury and LC300 status, the LX600 fits that niche.

Seems to me to achieve the most market share a base SR5 non-hybrid should be offered. But make it with the LC300 drivetrain, auto 4HI, 4LO, CDL and retain the IRS. Then higher trims get MTS and Crawl Control and hybrid.

Dunno if Toyota can do IRS with a rear locker to match LC300 offroad capability, but it will have a lot more cargo room than the LC300 and LX600. Maybe 5 years down the road we'll look at a used 3rd Gen. This '19 is kicking ass and taking names in all the situations we drive into in the Four Corner states.

Ok, it is very similar to a 2008 but does have all of the current saftey tech, has a way better gauge cluster and is fully functional.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I'm sorry, it's the same as it's been for 14 years is not really a specific concern (if there are no massive flaws) and I see no massive flaws.

I just drove my '13 to the dealer where I sat in a '22 pro while waiting for my bolts and it felt comfortable and cozy ('cause I'm used to it, it felt like home.

The leather is supple, the materials are actually nicer than in mine and I'd be happy if I can get one in a few years for 7 or so k under current MSRP cause it's a straggler on the lot (as long as I can get a good trade-in on mine)

My 2018 Tahoe with the stock air dam and eco tires was consistently getting over 20 mpg on the highway. After AT tires, level and air dam delete my fuel mileage tanked to 17-18. My take on this is if you want actual SUV capabilities, you will pay in fuel.

They will sometimes purposely add parts to their camo of test vehicles (foam blocks or whatever) to make the proportions look different. Just because it appears to have a squared off back, does not mean it does. You can even see how it's dipping along the roof a little at the very rear.

    Yep, I'm wrong...it's the Sequoia.

let's see how many people get butt hurt when they see all the new features....then the increased price for all the new tech.
i'm personally ready and watching for it. Prob won't buy the first year it comes out, but maybe in late '23 I'll get me a '24. Idk yet.

There you have it. Apparently my size-O-meter is way off. Hopefully this thing still seats 8 and swallows a ton of luggage.

No, I'm with you...I'm concerned based on the shrinkage of the Tundra that they did the same with the Sequoia.

Interested to see how it compares in size as well. Personally I would be ok if it shrunk a touch from second gen, I'm probably in the minority here. Our first gen works for us and with the IRS changes even if it's smaller it will be a big jump in space for us I'm sure.

I bet the interior will be smaller than the 2nd gen due to increased safety requirements and expectations. Maybe I just need to step up to a van if we ever get a second Dane..

Looks like it has a split rear door like LX 600. If that’s the case this thing is going to have Landcruiser pricing probably starting at $75-80k. If that’s the case I’m out!

If you mean the rear hatch, the LX has switched to a one piece lift gate.

I am sure it will start at at least $50k for a 4x4 if the other MFG's prices are any indication. Even Ford's Expedition XL model is like $55k for a 4x4.

And if they don't offer any deals, I can't see most people being able to afford them. $55k for a base model with no discounts is a large pill to swallow. Bring on the 96 month loans!

being that a base model 2wd right now is 50k, i'm thinking similar will be 55k. pro version would be closer to 75-80k and a platinum would be about 80-85k. *pill is starting to go down sideways for lots of people.*
    yep...let's do a 96 month loan....at a low interest rate of 8.9% since you have excellent credit.
