WTF??? Been "patiently" waiting for this to hit the dealer lots so I can test one out in person. I don't follow other brands so not sure if this is normal in recent times but FFS, Toyota already moves like molasses when redesigning their vehicles (except the Camry which appears to change every other year). Curious if they will put out an official statement or just quietly do their thing and then wow! One day they are on lots.

I don't know what vehicle will top this '19 for superb versatility and reliability. Do I want better fuel mileage? Hell yes. Do I want the complexity of turbos and hybrid? No.

There's a lot to like about old school V8's without cylinder deactivation and whatever trickery is done chasing MPG and emission standards. It does everything well. 2HI, fulltime 4HI with CDL, 4LO. 1375lb cargo weight and 150lb factory roof rack. Built at TMMI in Indiana that has a history of great build quality from the 1G Tundra and the Sequoia.

I'm gonna have a hard time moving on from this '19, i don't see anything that can top it.

The payload is not super impressive to be honest, but it is sufficient. Totally agree with the rest.

Payload is sufficient. I put the Timbren rear bumps on for sway control with a load and trailer hooked up. The '19 does everything well for long distance trips over the Colorado passes from Denver to Durango monthly. I'm always looking for something better but not seeing anything yet.

I sincerely dislike that you can't get Captains chairs in a Limited or ANY SR5. I currently have them in my wife TRD Sport.

Bit too pricey for my taste. Getting in the European pricing territory. Guess I'm not too surprised though with everything else skyrocketing in price.

LX600 F Sport sold for $108k msrp then the buyer sold back to the dealer a week later for $155k and the dealer sold it a week later for $168k. People will pay to stay out of the big 3 large SUVs

    * 40' turning circle is a good thing, I thought it would be 44'.
    * 22mpg combined would be great.
    * Electronic locking fuel door, nope.
    * 87 cubic ft max cargo space is a nope.
    * 22.5g fuel tank is ok for tank range with good mpg's.
    * 8.6" stock ground clearance isn't all that great, but I think it's easily lifted.

I sure would like to get 20mpg consistently instead of 15mpg, but losing cargo space in return isn't appealing.

Looks like fuel economy is similar to the Tundra. 4x4's are 19/22/20. Looks like 4x2 is 21/24/22

@DrZoidberg those fuel economy numbers look ok if you've been driving a 4.0/5speed 4Runner.
@nuclear same with the cargo area. It's an upgrade if you're coming from a 4Runner.

They made a bigger, faster, heavier 4Runner with no AWD like a 4R Limited would have. I think it will sell well with the 4Runner market. I think it looks cool, but cargo room, center diff, rear window are all downgrades. General passenger space seems smaller, too, but I haven't seen the numbers on it.

I think I'm more interested in a 2nd gen Sequoia or a mid-gen, 200 series LC. More utility is worth higher fuel costs. The new Sequoia looking cool is not worth the downgrades from the previous gen.

I agree. The advantage of an SUV over a truck is the interior utility, and if there’s only the same total cargo room in a Sequoia as an Highlander, the Sequoia loses that advantage.

Plus the back window in the Tundra is awesome.

2G Sequoia is a gem. A Tundra with IRS. I wish you the best of luck finding one at a reasonable cost. I jumped on this rental used '19 fast for $36k and 29k miles. Kickass machine.

Allocations are rolling out to dealers as of this week. So it looks like it's not as delayed as intitally reported. So far a white pro and solar pro I've seen allocated. if I were to get a sequoia I'd prob do the solar pro or the mag gray pro. That mag gray looks really nice.

I'll look at realworld reviews when they hit the road vs pre-production, but I've ruled out one as our next allaround versatile 4WD tow vehicle. The big deal is only 87 cubic ft max cargo volume vs 120 cubic ft in the 2G. And we would lose the great Torsen center diff, lose the sweet rolldown rear window.

I'm with you on the cargo room it could have been so much better but I'm confused on it not having an AWD option. Seems like a lot of people want AWD but I don't find it hard to shift into 4x4 High, I'm confused

If there were an option for 4wd with the center diff unlocked, I would agree. But since the new Sequoia can't do that like the old one could, we are relegated to using this in fewer scenarios. AWD or unlocked 4Hi is happy to run on pavement all day long, whether it's dry or slick from rain/sleet/snow/etc or a mix of dry and slick.

Toyota deciding to omit features, especially those that were so heavily utilized in the previous gen, is what confuses me.

Another pre-production review. Echoes my gripes compared to the 2G. Things that are set in stone are much less cargo volume, no AWD (AKA fulltime 4HI), no rolldown rear window, apx 1.5" less stock ground clearance. Where this '19 travels is Denver to Durango then onto the Rez to do animal rescues and spay/neuter clinics towing a mobile spay/neuter clinic. Has to do roundtrip monthly, every month of the year. Sure don't want part-time 4WD doing that trip swapping back and forth from 2Hi to 4Hi in winter while towing, As he says, it's a regression.

I would love to get better MPG but I think this 2G is the sweet spot for what it's used for, YMMV.

The 22.5 gallon tank will suck for towing anything large. With a trailer in tow the new engine will get approximately the same MPG as the 5.7L, so figure 9-10 for a travel or cargo trailer on the open freeway, and you are looking at 150-175 miles of usable range. Unless you like living on the edge and emptying the tank.

When I am towing my travel trailer around, I start looking for gas at 3/8 of a tank, and if I drop below 1/4 I start to pucker up. And thats with a 36 gallon tank.

The 2G Sequoia seems to have a 26.4 gallon tank so yet another thing where the 3G is worse.

Sequoia's not hitting dealer lots yet? It's mid-September. I thought by now they would be hitting dealer lots in Texas.

Will be hitting around November. Most the allocations I’ve seen have early to mid October build dates
