I like what they've done to it but not crazy about the loss of cargo room. Not worth it to sell or trade my 2nd gen in for one but if I was in the market, it would be my choice.

Anybody have intel on MSRP's? Plan on getting one for my wife - maybe in a couple years. I am thinking 60+K - a crap ton of coin.

If I had to guess, due to the hybrid and 3rd row being standard, a 2wd SR5 will start around $55k with no options. As it sits, the Expedition in the XL STX trim with 2wd, normal ecoboost, and no 3rd row is almost $53k before destination charges. A Tahoe LS 2wd 5.3L is $52k. By the time you add 4x4 and a few doodads you will be 60k easy. And I bet you will be paying every bit of that $60k when you go to buy one.

But they did say pricing would be available next week.

I think I'm out. We don't need the seats. Just wanted them. My truck bed has a diamondback lockable top that takes 10 min to pop off and store by a single person.

I can't see myself spending the money on something that doesn't improve my daily life. I can always rent or drive 2 vehicles during the once a yr event where I may need more seats.

Truck is paid off. I'd rather S/C it and buy a Yamaha jet boat for weekend fun before dropping money on something I don't really need.

You ever see the Daniel Tosh standup where he talks about how no one can frown on a jet ski? The same rule applies to jet boats.

Well, there she be. I'm not excited. Hybrid only pisses me off, cargo volume is reduced because of the hump in the cargo area. Don't need 583 torque and 9k lbs towing from an SUV. 583 torque can be helpful towing, but turbo engines drink fuel towing same as the 5.7l. We'll look at options to get better MPG's but I'm not seeing anything in the jumbo SUV class that makes me want to move on from the '19 Sequoia.

Yup. I'd buy it if I had nothing, but this new Sequoia doesn't do enough to get me to trade in my paid off 19 Tundra.

You won't get sustained torque like that while towing. The hybrid systems don't offer much in that regard unless maybe you are spending a lot of time in stop and go traffic while towing.

The battery is too small to be able to provide sustained output like that over long distances.

don't you only need the torque on acceleration? Once you're at speed you don't need to sustain torque, you just need the HP. That's regardless of ICE / PHEV / EV

The more 23 Sequoia content I watch the more I am disappointed. I think I would have been thrilled with it a couple of years ago but now I need the 3rd row to be functional. The 3rd row space and rear storage is very poor, seems barely better than my GX. The shelf system and the sliding 3rd row doesn't really fix the underlying problems.

I feel like the Sequoia used to come in a little bigger than a Tahoe but still well under the Suburban in terms of space. Now the Tahoe seems like it has a tremendously better/larger interior which is harder to pass up just in the name of Toyota brand loyalty. I don't think the Sequoia has really shrunk so much as the Tahoe has gotten larger and improved with the independent suspension etc. Why Sequoia went to live axle when the Tundra is independent is puzzling, and if it was to save money then that's terribly short sighted. And being Toyota you know that this is what we're going to be stuck with for probably the next decade which is really unforgivable.

Tahoe and Suburban have gone way up in price so there might be room to compete but I have a feeling given the Tundra that the Sequoia price is going to blow us away. Probably base price $57k and change plus $2k destination so $60 grand, and packaged so that to get any of the basic options you want it'll be more like $70,000.00. I guess we find out tomorrow.

The Tundra is still a Live Axel, but I agree that going IRS to Live Axel on the Sequoia is a step backwards. They definitely did it to have it all jive with the Tundra hybrid powertrain

HP is made with TQ. If you have more torque you can produce the needed HP at a lower RPM. I am just saying it won't help towing on the freeway at cruise or towing up mountains at speed.

HP is really just an indication of your trucks relative tractive effort, accounting for gearing and tire size, or the actual forward force your tire can apply to the pavement for a given speed. Tractive effort reduces with speed since your gear ratios become taller.

If you need 250 hp to move a trailer up a hill at 70mph, but only can produce 225 hp, then you are not going to be going 70 mph.

Yep $59,795 for base stripper SR5. Pathetic.

I'm sure they'll still sell but the initial reviews I'm seeing aren't great.

Got damn I'm going to have to buy a chevy :puke:

That’s who I will think will buy the 3G Sequoia—4Runner lovers who want more power and more space with the benefit of a bit better fuel economy.
