I live on a gravel road and im disappointed in the amount of vibration in the chassis of my new SR5 Tundra. Its really not that greatly improved over the last generation at all. Certain combination of very small bumps cause a terrible resonance in the chassis and it happens fairly often.

I just learned that the Limited and higher trims have hydraulic cab mounts to help with this issue. Anybody ever drive both over a rough road and compare difference? Are these available to purchase from toyota?

What would be involved with installing them? Could these be changed by just jacking cab inch or so and sliding them in without disconnecting anything or would it turn into a near full blown cab removal? Dont think I want to get into that lol

Welcome from the basin region, my 2006 has oem cab mounts and they have done great, a common mod is jamming backer rod near the windshield to prevent dash rattles, I use a scratchy blanket that doubles as a dash mat.

I think a good solution would be better shocks. I have Fox 2.5 shocks and live on a dirt road. They are great. I have a 2021 which didn't offer hydraulic body mounts. I have no idea which would be more expensive or simpler but it might be worth looking into.

Its definitely flex in the frame. Certain frequency of bumps and it just resonates, happens even with very small bumps sometimes. Not much the shocks can do for this problem. I hate this about body on frame vehicles. Was really hoping for more of an improvement with the new tundra.

I was actually thinking the other day, if only they had some kind of a damper between the cab and frame it would really help with this vibration... and tonight I see this:

    Fully Boxed Ladder Frame
Under Tundra’s bold exterior is a fully boxed ladder frame, designed for strength, rigidity, and superior handling. On Limited grades and above, the cabin is mounted to the frame with hydraulic cab mounts for even greater ride comfort.

Just thought I would post a follow up. I did change out to the hydraulic mounts and its a very noticeable improvement on my rough road. You still feel the bumps, but the vibration settles down much faster now and much less resonance on old cracked up pavement and very small bumps. I could watch the box shaking all over the place in the side view mirror before and there is much less movement now. Well worth the money IMO.

My dealer ordered me new bolts, the upper rubber mount, the hydraulic damper, and the lower rubber mount. On my double cab I did not need to change the big bolts, and the bottom rubber mount looked identical. I swapped it anyway since it was already paid for, and could possibly be harder/softer rubber. But Im 99% sure its same and you dont need it.

One other thing, the 2 small bolts that hold mount to frame have the nut spot welded to chassis. Just used an impact gun to pop this off and get it out of the way to install new mount. I loosened the middle mounts (item 2 on drawing) about an inch and it was no problem removing the old ones at the rear.

Hey I was wondering if you did the install on your own sounds like you kind of did? I’m interested in getting the hydraulic cab mounts installed on my sr5 as well. I feel like Toyota let us sr5 owners down with this unfortunately!

I've got a TRD OR DC. I'll crawl under mine to see if I can get a glance at the cab mounts to confirm. I doubt you'll get an answer from the OP. Doesn't look like he's been active on the forum since October.

It shows that every tundra should have hydraulic cab mounts. You can find this information on the website comparing the trim levels. And this tundra brochure.

    https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...0QFnoECEAQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0V-jYGmq0EPZKuxtj4ZmCm

I probably don't know what I'm looking at. I did look at my mounts and from my limited knowledge, they don't appear to be hydraulic.

These photos are from another user. My cabin mount is all black. The other user believed the hydraulic mounts were as pictured with the aluminum.SmartSelect_20230101_162118_Chrome.jpg SmartSelect_20230101_162101_Chrome.jpg

Those are my pics and yes the black ones are standard mounts, aluminum is hydraulic. Ive since looked at another SR and it was standard. Seems SR5 and up has hydraulic mounts

Took some pics of mine, SR5 TRD OR CM 4x4 w/ premium and convenience package… I wonder if a package or 4x4 or both, add the hydraulic mounts to the SR5

IDK. Have the 4x4, prem OR, adv tech package. However, mines a DC and not CM. Maybe that’s the diff?

I totally forgot to look at mine. I'll see if I can crawl under there tonight when I get home to check my mounts.

I've got a SR5 DC TRD OR 4WD. Based on what people are reporting, it'll be interesting to see what mounts I have. Given the ride, I can almost promise they are standard rubber isolators and NOT hydraulically dampened mounts.

I crawled under mine to take a look and it has the hydraulic cab mounts. It's a 2022(9/20 build) SR5 CM TRD OR 4WD with the premium off road package and the advance tech package.

I have a SR5 CM TRD Sport with hydraulic mounts. I think if it's a CM, it gets them.

That's weird, I do have the premium package so maybe that's it unless you have it too then I've got nothing.
