We were lucky to have any airflow in the back seat of the 70's land yacht LTD wagons just about every parent had in my youth.

Seems like they were all like this:

I’ll give an install update later today maybe tomorrow.

I currently have an autozone unit installed.

I received my new brushless yesterday. Ordered one of those fancy meters to measure airflow like an another user did.

Considering the LC blower is DC any comparison of strain(or relief) on charging system. I would think those of us in the South might save a bit of strain on the charging system. I know battery and alternator take a beating when constantly starting the truck and blasting AC in the summer between AZ and S.Texas. Anecdotal but my battery seems to fade when I am running errands (stop and go) in the summer. May not be an issue with the Tundy but definitely noticed on my ford and cheby! The chevy has 2 blowers and pretty sure alternator cant recover fast enough when both maxed out all day. Great thread and as soon as my blower starts its death throws i will upgrade.

For what its worth, I added front windshield tint a few months ago and it made a huge difference here in Houston summer, ac set at 73 and never goes past low/low-med after 5 minutes.

Did you receive your blower motor yet? I purchased mine last Saturday, but have not received an email or anything at all related to the shipping. I did get charged, but that’s it.

Ok. Did my install and had some interesting findings.

my current autozone blower maxed out at 3.2m/s

got my upgrade installed and it came in at 4.2m/s

then I looked at my cabin air filter and it looked terrible.

removed the cabin air filter and for shits and giggles ran it with no filter. Got 7.9m/s!

went whole hog and ordered k&n washable cabin air and got 7.1-7.2m/s

All tests were run on full blast, air at face level only, no feet, all vents wide open.

Very happy with the results and upgrade. Also much quieter than the autozone unit

I called Serra Toyota this morning because I ordered my blower on 8/17 and was charged for it, but never received any email confirmation or shipping info. The parts person that answered the phone was pleasant and stated the person that handles the online orders has been on vacation and is working hard to catch up on orders. He said if I don’t receive any emails by end of the week to give them a call back and that they are working through the orders as quick as they can to catch up. Just wanted to post this in case any one else recently ordered from there as well and is still waiting. I’m glad it wasn’t a part that I really needed asap.

I don’t think these are compatible with a 1st Gen on a drop in level, the harness/plug looks different… maybe someone around here can send you an old burned up unit and you can compare the physical aspects?

The brushless motor should be more efficient, but no one has tested airflow vs amp draw.

Oh, that's where it is. Got it, right under the cabin air filter.
So I guess this also begs the age-old debate, which way does the arrow on the filter face? Up or down?

What was the shipping cost from Sparks? They always had great prices but high shipping last time I checked.
Also, did you order PN 87103-60481?

I've got a little fan chirp, might be doing this soon

I shouldn't tell any of you this for fear of being ostracized......but I was working on about 3 hours of sleep when I installed this. I have also had three back surgeries and you need to be a bit of a contortionist to access the screws. So i drop the trim panel, get a flashlight, unscrew and unplug the old unit. I spend a couple minutes and a lot of curse words trying to get the new one in place....I end up finally starting the screws enough to hold it in place and secure it. Turn the key on to test and the fan on high. It is MOVING air and I am like "Damn, this is nuts how much air is getting thrown around this cabin. This is awesome. A bit loud but I will deal it....." I go to install the trim panel and look at it - "There's no way this is going to fit. I thought the land cruiser fan was plug and play and same size......."

Turns out i installed the new fan upside down so the air was being blown to the floor throughout the cabin........I literally laughed out loud and called myself a few choice names while I unscrewed the fan and installed it right side up, tested it and buttoned it up. Literally every time I turn on the fan now i laugh and shake my head

I use their dealership site (parts.sparkstoyota.com), not sparksparts.com.
The dealership site has the nearly perpetual “a shipping in orders over $75” deal and usually has the same prices as the other site. The only thing is that the dealership site doesn’t offer the customized “kits” and painted options.

    i ordered 87103-60560

I'm thinking they just see regional supply chains. One of my local dealerships said they have 2 of them. I'll have to call and confirm with them.

When I added the the rear AC to my DC, they also said noone had the main duct anywhere in the US. Later that day 2 of them magically appeared.

Speaking of which, was there a way to increase AC air flow to the rear seat area?
Kids are complaining and I would agree, the air flow right now through the back vent is pathetic at best.

I used these post as the source of the part number I grabbed, and confirmed fit with the specified Land Cruiser years when I went searching for the parts in the system.
