There may be another thread about this already but has anyone had a humming/rattle when accelerating? Sounds like it’s from passenger side dash/glove box. I have tried to figure out what it is and no matter what I do can’t seem to get rid of it. I guess it’s my ocd but it’s all I can focus on and it’s driving me crazy, anyone got any ideas?

    None. Keeping this one stock.
I had one. It was my .45. Rip rounds jiggling around in the mag.

Hey I actually figured out what it was the other day. ECM vibrating behind glove box. Pulled that big plastic piece off under glove box, tightened the screws but didn’t work so I put a c clamp on it and tested it and noise was completely gone.

Inside the cab the ecu comes through and is in a metal casing. There’s enough space in there for it to rattle

Finally got around to dealing with the rattle today...same as the rest.....ecu box under the dash....a couple of layers of sound deadened and the rattle is gone.

E12FA67B-6F07-4512-A319-394D46436784.jpg I just wrapped it around the box the ecu fits into on the inside of the dash behind the glove box. (Not my photo)

I had the exact same thing--was on the other tundra forum looking for a solution (someone suggested loosening the wires on the engine side). Mine was a buzzing sound that would come on around 1500 rpm- 2000 rpm. It took many trips after removing the plastic covering and getting my kids to feel around for anything buzzing before we found the culprit. I too used sound deadening material (Dynamat) and wrapped the whole ECU with it. Now the sound is gone (thank goodness!).

Now that is a really worthwhile thread with a good solution.

Mine hasn't developed the buzzing sound yet but with the sub-freezing temperatures we have right now there are some plastic creaks here and there but they usually go away once the inside warms up (really good heater in the Tundra). I would consider that normal as all my previous trucks did it as well when it was cold.

YYJTUndra thanks for replying. It is one of the most annoying sounds to listen to in a new truck. I’ll have to try the dynamat. I still have the c clamp on the metal casing around the ECU. It definitely stopped the noise tough. Now it feels and sounds like a new truck. It’s at the stealership right now getting heated leather seats and pocket flares. Ready to see what it looks like when it’s finished.

Half a sheet of dynamat or sound deadener from a local stereo shop should be more than enough.

If you get the Katzkins you will be very impressed! And the heated seats are really needed right now.

Went and picked it up this evening. The katskinz and seat heaters are awesome. Pocket flares look good as well.

It was the most annoying sound, I was bound and determined to figure out where it was coming from. Happy I could help others along the way.

Had the exact same issue. Drove me nuts. Some say its because it rubs against the opening but from what I can tell, its the casing itself, its just thin metal on one side so it buzzes.
I took a piece of radiator hose sliced down the middle and stuck it on the ECU's edge. Noise gone.

It has to do w the vibrations from the ECU harness under the hood near the firewall. The vibrations go from the engine, down the hardness, to the bracket and on the firewall. I know some people have unclipped the harness from the bracket and zipped tied it instead to stop the noise with success as well.

I also notice everyone I've read with this ECU buzz is a 2018. Wonder what changed? Did they go w a thinner housing?

I have the same buzzing, dealership tried to insulate with felt, still buzzes,
I think the excessive engine vibration at 2000 RPM is the issue, not a loose ecm.

I think I hear this buzzing for the first time the other day. Too damn cold outside to mess with fixing it. Its done it a couple times, but if it continues I'll fix it in a few weeks when it warms up.

Can someone post step by step instructions on what I need to do to fix the rattle/buzzing? Got a 2018 and it happens everytime I'm step hard on the gas pedal. It's driving me crazy! I'm like :lalala:

I finally got around to trying this. ECM was not the easiest to remove. I had to disconnect all the wire harnesses to make space to get it out.

Unfortunately I don't think this is the source of the rattle I have. I wrapped it completely in sound deadening mat and the noise is the exact same. Going to have to get my wife to drive while I lay under there to find it.

Still have a buzzing or humming sound in the rear headliner at low rpms under medium load.

I didn’t remove mine to fix the buzzing. I was just able to apply some small sections of sound deadener while it was still installed. Hopefully you get your buzz figured out.

I see. I thought I read somewhere one person did remove it, mentioning the 4 bolts that take a 10mm socket. The buzz is not as bad as the rattling noise under the dash as rea since that happens almost constantly.
