Humming from front end, felt through the steering wheel

Picked up my truck today. No change in the humming sound, it’s exactly like the way it was before. The master mech mentioned though that, the original axle with only 1100 miles on it, already had signs of the needle bearing scoring the surface. 6 weeks in the shop, and no change. The good news is, today I might hit 1380 miles. Almost ready for the first oil change... ugh!

    That's a bummer.

If it's like mine it'll get a louder during the winter months just from the cold changing the clearances. Just a heads up

Thanks for letting me know. I don’t think, I will still own this by the winter, though...

According to the work order, the shop replaced both, the front differential as well as the transfer case:

Both are leaking fluid! The front diff leaking from the passenger side. Not too bad but, definitely leaking.
The transfer case on the other hand is leaking like the Exxon Valdez, after running aground in Alaska (back in 1989h lol!
The leak is so bad, the entire length of my fuel tank shield is covered. All over the exhaust downpipe and all over the frame. My truck has 1532 miles on it by the way. Calling the shop on Tuesday.

Found the source of the leak on the transfer case: it’s the forward axle output shaft seal that is leaking pretty bad. This part being brand new on my brand new truck with only 1552 miles, makes me wonder about QC.

Without a doubt, make them buy it back PLUS extra for your 2+ month inconvenience. Stand firm and they will. This is absolute BS.

Clearly not the norm for these trucks. You should get a new one and an extended warranty and a few payments. I wouldn’t be confident holding onto to it outside of warranty with things going south at 1k miles

When talking to Matt Page, the director of sales over at Michael’s Toyota in Bellevue Wa. (Where I purchased this truck) he offered me “wholesale price” for the tundra. After this, and I can’t go into details for obvious reasons but the bottom line, we filed a lawsuit already a week ago. Over all, i am very disappointed because, I really wanted to like this truck....

You’re doing the right thing at that sales guy is wrong. Did you contact Toyota Corporate? I would be surprised if they didn’t make you a much better offer. Wholesale? GTFO with that garbage.

Yep very sound advice here. Glad you are moving forward legally. I would be willing to bet corporate would do much more to make things right. Don’t let a lemon turn you off from these awesome machines!

Update: Toyota has agreed to repurchase my Tundra. My attorney is in the process of working out the details right now. If all goes well, this should be a done deal within a couple of weeks (keeping fingers crossed)

Good for you. That's the right thing in this scenario. Wholesale offer was garbage & you should tell that guy that it is an insult.

What a ride this has been.

GM or Ford next? Go full circle?

Hey “Dr Evil” lol! To be completely honest, I am not sure. My friends are giving me soooo much Sxxx it’s not even funny! They suggest I take the public transportation or just get an electric scooter instead!

The thing is, I really wanted to love my Tundra but after this experience, I just can’t! Not going to badmouth the brand bc I think, I was just a “lucky” customer picking up the “right” vehicle! Damn you, Calvary Blue color!!!! Hahaha!

On a more serious note, I might consider the Silverado 1500 Trail Boss with the 6.2, or a Gladiator Rubicon.

Not sure about the F-150. I do t think I care for the turbo v6. I like V8’s but Ford is having issues with the coyote engine burning too much oil. (Has to do with the piston rings. A “known issue”)

    I’ll keep y’all posted once it’s a done deal.

I am a naturalized citizen (former Euro reject) but I bet, I love America more than some of these Marxist trash up here in the Pacific Northwest.... I wanted to have my punisher and distressed US flag stickers put on my truck but, I am convinced it would trigger certain individuals to sabotage, scratch and door ding my truck in no time! Just the sad reality of living in Seattle, especially when you aren’t “one of them (commies)” ...lol

The Tundra is the only 1/2 ton I would probably own. The 19-20 with the removed transmission cooler hasn’t been giving me good vibes, but I would just add a cooler and be done with it.

The Cavalry Blue color is pretty sweet. Total bummer this didn’t go well for you.

Absolutely. Only option I didn’t get was AC seats, and that year they stopped offering on anything below a Denali. I didn’t want a Denali so, something had to give.

How about a used low mileage Tundra? All the bugs worked out of it and the best of the manufacturers? I looked hard at the Ram (loved the interior goodies); the GMs and the Fords. All had too many serious issues, even the used ones. Might give the Titan a look...had no problems with mine. I found a nice DC 4wd Limited that looks like new in and out. Not as many goodies, but should be reliable.

I almost spit out my coffee as I read this. I hear you. I've been masking, gowning, gloving for 24 years. When not in glasses or wearing loupes, I'm operating through a microscope wearing a mask on average 11 hours a day at work. Wearing a mask is not a problem. Dealing with insurance companies? That is my problem.

I might find myself needing a 3500 series truck in the future so the question is what domestic manufacturer to choose. Maybe I can find a Hino to full the need?

Wow sorry to hear about your issues. Good job getting an attorney - I’ve learned the hard way good legal advice and counsel is priceless!

Good luck with your next purchase whatever you do. I have a 2019 and was considering trading when used Tundra prices skyrocketed — I was offered $3k more than I paid back in August. The truck is perfect no issues and with my luck I’d have gotten one with problems.

Depending on what you are using the truck for If you have any serious towing needs I’d consider a 3/4 or 1 ton. Lots of complaints with 2019+ Tundras and transmission temps and payload/towing capacity.
    Keep us posted!
