So I go out tonight to take out the trash and notice this slight humm or buzz. Walk around to find the source and figure out that it's coming from under the back of the truck. Listening under the back wheel well and you can hear it much more clear. What the heck? I can only assume maybe it has to do with the fuel pump, not sure what else it could be.

Got my keys, half turned it so just the inside electric would come on and the humming noise went off.

Anyone have any ideas? Should I call service tomorrow.

Don't take it in. This is normal to do with the evap system. Stressed probably 80% of people on here when we first heard it too.

According to Wikipedia there are 7 of us. Also there are 35 people who know where their manual is.

This is a manifestation of the "Valentines Day effect", more guys spend more time with their true love late at night (too bad for the wives)

Likewise ... first night camping with the new truck last night, me and the girl and dog are sleeping in the truck bed under the stars. Around 2AM in the morning, I'm woken up from a dead sleep by a weird humming noise. At first I thought it was a guy a few campsites down with a FJ Cruiser who had the full set up, you know, circus tent and queen size air mattress, separate sleeping and chilling tents, the whole thing, maybe using an electric pump to re-fill one of the air mattresses in his tent palace. But then I realize the sound is emanating directly from under my head. So I get up, take a leak, start poking around under the truck with a flashlight. It's coming from somewhere around the fill end of the fuel tank. After going for about 2 or 3 minutes, it seems to change sides, so I climb back into my sleeping bag and say hell with it, since it's like 35 degrees outside, and figure it's just some new-fangled modern technology. It continues for another 2 or 3 minutes or so, before stopping just as mysteriously as it started. Neither the girl nor the dog even stirred the whole time, proving that I'm on my own in a bear attack situation.

It's been 1.5 years since anybody mentioned this damn noise but I got it tonight when I went out to tuck the cars in for the night. I open the door to the garage to make sure the outside garage doors are shut (this is normal for me) and I hear this weird buzzing noise. It's clearly coming from the side of the garage where my Tundra is parked but I can't figure out what it is. Finally I stick my head in the rear wheel well, driver side and the noise is a bit louder and clearly coming from underneath the bed somewhere. It's a bit unnerving but what the hell? I set the alarm and went to bed.

All - but should it be running for hours? Last I drove mine was 6am today - now at 1:30pm I go out and hear it buzzing. Same thing as soon as I start the truck it stops.

It isn't running for hours. It cycles and then stops, and then it will cycle again as needed. It wasn't running the whole time.

Last night I went out late and heard what I thought was an electric tire pump, and I had one in enclosed trailer next to 2020 tundra,as I got close to my trailer it grew faint, sounded like truck area, did a walk around and opened doors.Went to a wheel well and it sounded like a little air pump,I have air bags but manualy fill them. And here I am learning its evap system doing self diagnostics.Great site for questions and answers.

    I read some of it.

    So I am semi-literate

Recently I was reading about the auto LSD.
I always thought it was on all the time, seems if the red words are not on your dash, it is not turned on.
Single press of the trac button brings it on.

Unless I read the confusing manual backwards, anything is possible

Sleeping outside when its 35 degrees?

Hope I am never forced to do this o_O

Sucks you got woke up though.
It is very weird our trucks do this, never had another vehicle do it, and have yet to hear my 2014 do it, but it lives outside in a parking spot :anonymous:

    Ha ha.

    Good thread.

Another camper here. Woke me up at about 2:00AM. What the heck? Soon guessed it was some sort of fuel evap thing.
