yeah make them battle it out. Who wants the sale more. If you have both dealers on the hook it’ll only benefit you to make them duke it out

You just have to let them know you will walk. I took my wife’s leased explorer into the dealer to buy it and they talked us into look into at the new ones. They of course don’t make money if I were to purchase the leases one that I had. I stood firm and told them to either sell me the old one or get me the upgraded one on the same lease terms. Sticker was like 50k msrp, they dropped it down to 40k to get me to take the new one. If they know you got other options and will walk, they will do whatever they can to get the sale

Yeah it's a crazy market right now. I have a 2013 with the 4.6 and was looking at the new ones with the 5.7. Prices are high and I can't really justify going from no payment to a new payment of $600+, and 40K to go from a 4.6 to a 5.7. Maybe with a hefty down payment and wait about a year.

MSRP on my truck was $57 and I paid about $47 so 17-18%. That did not include sales tax tho. It sounds like OP is all in at $47 including 9% tax, so that's not bad imo.

um if your tax is 9% that should be on the paperwork. otherwise you will have to pay that when you go register. if you are buying out of state, see if the dealer will do the tax paperwork for your state if you are a neighboring state. i know in ND if you buy a vehicle in MN they will do the 5% tax on vehicles for ND or apply the tax paid to MN to ND.

    also to add ...

taxes are after trade in but before discounts. so no trade in means you are paying 9% tax on roughly 50k which is going to be another 4500 in taxes not in the finance cost.

Depends on the state. My state charges tax on full purchase price, regardless of trade in.

Mine is only 5%, but I still liked that after my trade I only owed them 4 bucks.

I was pleasantly surprised. I had braced for paying taxes on it because I hadn't traded in before. Well, I did, but it was a shit dealership who never mentioned any such thing.

Yeah, no tax value reduction makes it sting more to trade frequently so make sure you are happy before you sign. It also encourages private party sales.

For sure. I don't think I'd trade anything if that's how it worked here. I'd sell it privately. Not a worry now anyway; me and the Tundra are a forever kind of deal. :)

I've been looking at buying another Tundra, and the deals that used to be everywhere are no longer to be had. Inventory on 2020's is dried up if you're picky on options, 2021's are not really out yet, and best I've seen is $2500 dealership discount plus $2500 Toyota rebate. Maybe few more bucks, but that seems to be it.

However, I'd love it if someone told me I was wrong and pointed me in a direction of a dealer with a TRD Sport in stock which might be offering more than $5000 in discounts.

That's something I've never done. How was the process? Did you just tell them what you wanted and they presented you with options?

Thank! I’ve been there looking at deals but I never contacted him. I guess it doesn’t hurt, I just sent him a message.

Process went as smooth as silk.

I have leased and purchased many cars over the internet. This one was another one with no problems.

They sent me all the paperwork via FedEx, I signed/notarized it, and returned them, and the auto shipper picked up and delivered to me.

No haggling or time wasted at the dealer, AND I got the vehicle far cheaper than I could have locally.

Hi, so after adding $40-$50 (broker fee + shipping) making your effective payment $475-485 you're still below what you were offered in SoFL?

Also $2000 is more than the usual 1st month payment only that they use to promote, which represents another $40 per month aprox.

    Thanks for sharing.

Start with the MSRP AND TAKE OFF 11.5% If your good, Tell them you didn't want the Anti Theft and they will scratch it out or charge a little ( don't pay more than $50.00 for it), Tell them you will only pay $75.00 for document fee ( its minor paperwork B.S. they try to mark up and pay the license, title and tax. If not I hope you can handle waiting and give them your phone number when they want to sell it to you at that price. Also watch the most important part of the deal and that the Finance Inquisition! They can hide thousands in your final agreement and you will think your getting a great deal.

Appearance package is probably the chrome license plate trim with the dealers logo.

Fly to texas and drive it back for way less . You can probably get them to ship it fairly cheap. I got my tundra new for 35000 sight unseen. they dealer traded for it from the dealer next to me from the city I bought it from online. Their brother picked up my trade in and drove it out there 5 hours for a tank of gas . If they need your money they will make it work. Watch you don’t get gouged on trade in value and extra warranties .

I just bought a 2020 Double Cab MSRP 38,966 for 34,200 (with the $2500 rebate). It was the only Calvary Blue Double Cab within 1,000 miles according to the dealer. They traded another dealer to get the truck to sell to me. Very hard to say at this time, could I have done better, especially wanting Calvary Blue? If there are no trucks, there are no trucks.

I too am seeing the well dry up quite a bit (looking at limited CM and platinum CM 4WD only). Being on Autotrader and Cars multiple times a day, I only see the numbers go down. When I find one that matches the options/colors I want 300+ miles away, the dealers won't budge on MSRP except $2500 toyota rebate.

I might have to wait this one out since I will never forgive myself for paying
