So how exactly does the BSM know when to alert the driver? Wouldn't it need some sort of parameters to base its detection off of? ​

 

I think you may have misread my comment, I'm aware of their location. I was asking how they work

If they use sonar or some sort of system to detect when a car is in fact in the blind spot then surely they have parameters to bass the detection off of which would certainly have a sensitivity adjustment, no?

That's not to say a lift kit is going to throw it off but simply that there is in fact a system or algorithm in which the BSM system operates.

 

Yea I'm in the same boat as you.

I'm hoping the BSM is only acting up because it's tied into the speed sensor computer as well just like the traction control, abs, and 4hi-4lo. My appointment is for Monday so we will find out shortly.

The 4hi-4lo lights actually flash. They don't stay solid.

Once I press he BSM button to turn it off the BSM warning goes away and so does the triangle with the explanation mark in it.

Also I do have the parking brake engaged other wise it wouldn't be lit up.

 

Just got off the phone with the stealership

They got the speed sensor harness changed out and all that is good but the BSM is still not working, they think it's two bad sensors in the rear bumper and are changing those out first thing in the morning. 200 bucks a piece according to them. They are eating it all but damn hope I never have to replace any of those.
