How to: Track your Tundra at the Factory

From what I’ve read here if you look at the last six digits of the vin the two before the letter indicate the production week

 

I just got my allocation last Friday and my temp Vin also shows 11, so I am guessing that is incorrect.

 

Same for me…was told to expect it in 4-6 weeks by the dealer

 

Guessing this is incorrect also as mine was 09 and my truck was built on 5/6.

 

I don’t think it means anything, or at least not that - mine is 08.

 

I think I am in a very similar situation. My build date was like 4/29 and shipped not long after. Mine is still “F” with no update from the dealer. I am in Spokane, WA with a hybrid platinum on order.

 

Finally got a temp VIN from my dealer and also a build date. Looks like it may be deliver July 4th weekend. What a time. Maybe the next week though. We will see.

 

I’m also in Spokane and my dealer is Larry H Miller (now Findlay). I put a deposit down 5 Feb and got an allocation 25 Feb. the truck was scheduled to be built 31 March. After several delays it was actually built 13 April. I asked my salesmen if it was still scheduled to be built 31 March and he told me it was but I already knew that wasn’t true because a contact that works at a Idaho dealership helped me look up my VIN and he told me it was delayed several times. My salesman is either too lazy to look it up for me or a liar or both.

After I knew it actually got built I ask my salesman if he had an ETA and he said it was in Portland awaiting a ride up here. That was 5 May. I’ve asked him for an update only two times since and both went unanswered/ignored. The same actually helpful salesman from Idaho told me my truck actually didn’t leave on a train from San Antonio until 17 May and that it’s going to Silver Bow Montana before it is trucked here. He said it will never be in Portland. I’m not sure what the problem is with my salesman but to say I’m not happy with the situation is an understatement. Hopefully my truck is here soon but I’m getting tired of waiting. I hope you have a better experience. What dealer are you working with?

This whole process is very frustrating. I’m seeing people get their Pros and Hybrids that were built a month after mine get delivered already, in some cases in Maine and Iowa. What the hell toyota? why is it taking more than 6 weeks to ship my truck?

 

Super interesting. I am going through Autonation Toyota in Spokane Valley. My dealer did tell me trucks used to get shipped to Portland for port, but that they recently changed it to Montana. So sounds like he has been giving me accurate information based on what he knows. Hopefully we’ll both have answers soon. I wonder if they wait until they have enough inventory to put it on the train to a particular location? My salesman has said “likely before the end of the month; but maybe early June”. So still within that window, but we’ll see.

 

I had a really bad experience with autonation buying my wife’s RAV4 so we went to Larry h miller. Didn’t want to give autonation my business with the truck either…I hope they treat you better than they treated me and my wife.

 

finally getting around to checking this tonight. My Temp VIN finally pulled up. Just shows CAT "A" and hold status as "DealerHold" hopefully they are correct in telling me its to be built next month. It doesnt show me any dates on the pull up. Very cool that i can track this now though.

 

For anyone that has been with me through this journey, I'm still waiting with no updates.

Train Departure:3/31
Train Arrives in Seattle: 4/8
Put on QC Hold: 4/21

It's been sitting in Seattle since. My dealership is in Portland and it's supposed to ride the train here eventually. This is fucked. Hopefully no one else is in the same spot.

If there are any Toyota employees here, can you tell me anything I don't already know? Train # or something?

 

Sounds familiar. That's about the same time mine was built then put on QC hold. Dealership told me Toyota had a VIN range that was having issues with the down hill assist switch not resetting or something like that.
I have a double cab limited TRD on deposit. It's so frustrating not having some kind of update. I'm in north idaho so it's possible my truck is sitting there as well.

 

CrewMax Platinum. Built and changed to "F" on 5/2. Still waiting....I am in Seattle, it is going to Bellingham, WA

 

Maybe these trucks are being held for quality control because of the turbo waste gate issue?

 

@saleen079 My truck doesn't have the Downhill assist. It isn't a TRD.
@nrm91 You're still within a normal time frame. Anything under another 3 weeks means you're lucky and got it early.
@deepdesign Hopefully not. Unless they discovered a visually inspection method to identify and resolve the issue.

 

similar boat as you, but I’ve in f status since the 16th and in Utah. But no updates, Toyota system is crap now.

 

They should just let us pickup at factory and credit us back for the shipping cost. I can drive it home for way less than what they charge for 3 weeks shipping.

 

Well, I'm at a loss. A buddy of mine here in town put a deposit on a limited TRD back in March and his was delivered on time 2 weeks ago. We had deposits at 2 different dealers, but shouldn't make a difference, right? My departure date for our year long sabbatical is slowly approaching and I may have to start working on plan B, which is a different truck all together.

Followed the steps and I'm seeing "F"... For some reason there is no ETA line under the engine line... Sales guy told me yesterday that from what he can see it's left the factory and is on its way to Chicago, and is supposed to land there 6/3... Said from that point I should be in the driver's seat within a week... Fingers crossed...

 

Do you know if they deliver freight tomorrow? Or if Memorial Day is a non delivery day.

I'm getting mine through Automation in the Valley too. When was your build date? Mine was May 26. Truck is "F" status on the 26th.

 

My build date was 4/29 and shipped something like 5/2. Mine is also still in “F” status but really hoping it gets here in a week or less.

Check your VIn. Nothing shows up when I tried to track it. Tried mine again just to make sure it was still working.

Hmmm. Still nothing. Shows page not found, contact dealer. Anyone else have any luck? Mine is still showing F with no ETA listed.
