I’m coming up on my 36 month warranty expiring on my tundra. My last couple vehicles I’ve been fortunate enough to have the batteries go out right before the warranty expired. Anyone have any advice on how to permanently kill my battery? Also, am I the only scumbag who’s thought of this?thanks

They would most likely pro-rate it if it even has a 36mo warranty.

Completely discharge it several times and charge it. Automotive batteries don't like cycles.

Take a 10ga wire directly from your ecm to the positive post. Another wire from the ground post directly to your ecm ground. Make sure not to use a fuse. This will definitely make it so your truck won't start.

Exactly. Spend $150 in time to kill a $100 battery, then another $200 in time and gas to / from / at the dealer.

I’d rather have a firm grip on a wrench touching both posts.

I'd say just go to Interstate and buy a 24F or 27F and call it a day.
If you're really cheap Costco sells the bottom line Interstates pretty cheap..

I'd replace an OEM battery way before it got to 3 years old, but I don't like having a vehicle that won't start..
    I'm living the life though.
I've got better things to do than go to all that trouble for a prorated replacement battery.

I couldn’t get my NEW OE batteries to last 3 days and this guy is complaining his won’t die before 3 years !!

Seriously 2 replaced batteries on a 2021 Tundra - nothing lasted more than 3 days. Broke down and paid $300 for a yellow Optima and zero complaints since.

If you have gotten more than 1 new battery - call it a win and move on. They SHOULD be doing replace for failure within a year of original purchase and pro-rata after. Again - technically after you bought the first - they owe a warranty based on original purchase - not reset the clock if your battery goes out at 35 months. Of course some are more customer focused and go above/beyond.

My local dealer argued about giving me an oil change after 1 year of ownership because I only had 780 miles on the truck. Be glad to have been treated well - run it till it dies and then buy a new one - knowing the new stuff is more likely to be a POS and you might have to go to batteries plus and she’ll out a few hundred for a reliable AGM going forward.
