I'm looking for a new truck . How does a fella look for a truck set up the way you want or close to it ?

carguru isn't specific enough in that I think I want the 4.6 ,sr5 , 4x4 dc. I have a light boat only to pull and just don't need a lot of power . My 96 Tacoma was 2.7 and did everything I needed done just fine.

How different is an sr to a sr5 ? I like the bench seat better myself . Another differences ? And where can I get one ? Not worried about traveling to get it .

    Thanks a lot , MM

Cars.com usually works well for me... Can put in exactly what you want and it will search within a distance you specify. I don't think there is such thing as an SR now - It's just base, SR5, TRD, Platinum, and TRD Pro. Give Cars.com a shot and see how it works.

If you are wanting a brand new truck, go to your dealership and tell them exactly what you want. If they don't have it, they can find it. If they are too high go to another dealership. There are 3 dealerships within a 20 mile radius in my city. Its always fun to pit dealers against each other.

I think the biggest difference between sr and sr5 is chrome vs black bumpers, fog lights, and the sliding rear window. You can get the bench seats in either one

Can't tell you more than these guys have already told you. Around here they call the base model 'Grade'. I've always had a bench seat in the front but I was suprised how much I enjoy the console in the SR5.

Have you checked out CarMax.com ? They have upgraded their website and it's much easier to find what you want.

Boom. Not sure how many miles you are ok with or if you're looking for a new one. This came up within 20 miles of my area.

I'm looking for a new or very nearly new truck . Seems the 4.6 is in plenty of the sr model . I would like to find something like a poster showed a couple days ago sr5 , 4.6 , for 33K .

Thanks for the places to look guys.

Honestly I don't think the dealers close to us have much interest in helping me find one ready to go . Say there not in our region . Found one in K.C. myself . Basic work truck 31k .

We live in the Lake Texoma area of Ok. 100 miles north of Dallas , bout 130 miles south of OK City .

I haven't seen any 4.6L SR's offered in 4x4. Matter of fact I don't recall seeing any 4x4 at all in the 4.6L version, but that doesn't mean there isn't any.

I have the 4.6 SR and it pulls the boat / toy trailer just fine.

So you have an idea, I paid about $29,000 for mine new, but it had a few factory upgrades installed and the dealer was also running a special.

I have seen plenty of low mileage ones on autotrader etc. for around 28k.
