    agreed.
i happily wear my seat belt 99.9% of the time. however... the .1% that it's off is when i'm out driving in farm fields during deer hunting season and the chime or sitting on the belts is annoying.

Hi all, I've just download Carista obd2 apps on Apple apps store and i have connect my truck with an Elm obd2 wifi interface... The app give me all the option like the dealer... you can deactivate the seat belt chime but also a lot of things like the key chime, one press to unlock etc... the ELM cost me under 10bucks last year and the apps ask 13$ to access mods... some cash but i'm glad of this because my dealer (here in Quebec) does'nt want to do the modif... Hope will help

Sorry for the broken english, i'm a french IMG_6623.jpg IMG_6622.jpg

Can you activate the factory alarm with this? I was about to order Techstream soon, maybe this is easier.

    Merci Monsieur!
Great info. I read that the app charges you $10 or $40 a year. Can I get away with only spending $10?

Yes, I hear you can with techstream but haven't tried yet. Let me know if you try it. And you can turn seat belt chime off too.

    OK, It works. :woot:

I ordered from the link quoted above, and followed install instructions from the TT link above. I didn't need to change the TISFunction, it was already 0. The disc came with 2 versions of Techstream that were both 10. something (possibly 10.10... and 10.30..., but I don't remember exactly). I used the older version with success.
When I leave work, I have to drive about 150 yards or so , then get out to close and lock a gate. That annoying seat belt chime would drive me crazy. It's going to be nice to not listen to it.

You the man Toby! Does it let you activate the factory alarm? And what kind of laptop did you use?

I'm not sure on the factory alarm, I'd have to hook up again and check. I know there was a glass break sensor option, but I have that already.

I have an old 32 bit Dell Inspiron mini netbook running windows 7 starter. It doesn't have a disc drive, so I had to copy the software disc to a thumb drive and install it from there.

That's my biggest concern, I don't have a 32 bit anything. Does it say anything about working on a 64 bit laptop?

Nothing on the software specifies 32 or 64, so I'm guessing its 32 only.
The TT thread says...... The simplest gig would be to find an old 32 bit XP laptop, or fork over another week's allowance for a Mongoose MFC so you can use Techstream on a 64 bit laptop easily.

Thx Toby. I'm just gonna order it and give it a try on my 64 and see what happens. I think I'm gonna dip my grille first then give this a try in a couple of weeks.

There is a passive mode security system option. I'm not sure what that would be. Mine is turned off. :notsure:

oh, don't want the passive alarm on. Apparently it sets the alarm off after a certain amount of time after the door is opened.

Not really a computer guy either, though my wife's a software engineer. Ha ha. Lotta good that'll do me. "Hey honey, wanna come work on my truck for an hour or so?" I've read there are issues with windows 7 or 8 and that's what I've got. I really would like to change some of the chimes.

I've found that putting my seatbelt on usually turns the chime off.
