Love my AMP Powersteps but man they get dirty and the automatic car wash I use doesn’t clean them cause they’re in the up position when I go through it. Any tips for how to get them clean? They have an aggressive coating—almost like skateboard tape—so I don’t think they can really be wiped down. Thanks in advance!

Maybe some purple power? Use a brush?

I’ll need to do mine at some point, but mine were starting to have some paint issues last year. I took them off, wet sanded them, and painted with a spray in bedliner. They turned out great and still look that way for now.

You can get them to stay in the down position by standing on them when the go to retract. Unless it's a touchless wash you'll probably tear up or snag the brushes.

    Brush and cleaner work.

Oh I can get them down easily. Just crack the door. Am wondering what kind of cleaner to use. The brush idea makes sense.

You can make them stay down with the doors closed…

Open door to lower step. Place foot on step when closing door. Hold for two seconds. You’ll feel the step try to lift just slightly, and then quit when it senses the weight of your foot. You can do the passenger side, but will need the wash attendant to do the driver side while you’re inside.

To reset, simply open and close doors.

I run mine through the wash in the down position all the time. Eventually lost the rear step cap on passenger side, and assume it was in the wash. Not 100% sure though.
