@thomasbus337 can you repost all the diagrams, and parts list to get these 2018 headlights working for a SR, SR5 and PRO? With all the replies and questions, it's just confusing as crap since the other diagrams and parts are in a separate thread. I got parts ordered for the harness with the motocontrol harness but now I'm just stuck on this relay harness to get the DRL going. My headlights are coming in tomorrow and I'm still clueless on putting it together.

The diagram I posted gives you the info needed to set the DRL’s up.

How many butt connectors will you need and what would be a sufficient length of wire loom for the harness and this DRL setup?

This will all depend on where you mount it. Just get a bunch of them. I will be soldering most of the wires.

@inferno_pro_satx @thomasbus337, is that gray wire #5 constant ground? or is it "Activated" when I turn on the lights? I guess I'm wondering exactly how that wire works along with the relay.

That gray wire is activated with parking brake and work as ground to activate relay until headlights are turned ON (aka LED DRL Hi) and that's when the purple wire in the hood start working as parking lights (aka LED DRL Lo)

So, when I release the parking brake that gray wire will activate and the LED DRL's HI will come on(with the 1 relay set up)? When I turn on the headlights the LED DRL's will DIM/LOW?

How does the LED headlight housing know to DIM the LED DRL's?

I am waiting for my relay set up to arrive so I can put it together like the diagram I posted.

Yes thats correct the Gray wire is activated as ground (Pin 85 in the relay) point when you release the parking brake this activate the relay and Pin 30 make the contact with pin 87 which is the red wire going from cabin to the 8 pin plug DRL Hi in the headlight, when you turn ON your headlights pin 85 is deactivated so no 12V in the Red wire but the parking light which is a low voltage mode (11.8V) will work as the Low/dim LED DRL it will dim but I think not too much to be noticed not sure yet (will dim from 12.2V to 11.8V about 3.5% only)

Not sure about the 2018 voltages, I checked voltages today in my Pro and that's what I found Battery fused red (Hi 12.2V) > Purple/Parking (Lo 11.8V) maybe someone with a older model Platinum/1794 can help with the voltage for the Dimmed DRL

But I think no big deal on that matter I been driving my truck with the LED DRL strip and the Panamera shroud in my retros in High bright mode all the time for a few months now (Just the Panamera LEDs dim a little bit with headlights ON), I think the important thing is the LED DRLs will work as if they came from factory, they start working only with the truck running and only after you release the parking brake totally different if you only wire it to any IGN 12V source the DRLs will turn ON with the turn of the key to ACC mode even with the truck still turned off like I have the LED DRLs in my retros now.

The gray wire gets a ground signal from the pcm when the parking brake is released “has nothing to do the parking brake all pcm” then once the pcm sees headlights on 12 volts it kills the ground at the gray wire and that’s how the dims come on at the purple.
Gray wire is all controlled from the pcm, that’s how factory platinum/1794 work.

The voltage have nothing to do with dimming, the led strip has 2 sets of LED’s inside
Brights & lows, that’s why the orange controls the low side of LED’s and red high side of LED’s.

I have a 2016 SR5 and I'm getting real super close to understanding how to wire everything I need to get my lights to function like factory as if they were on a platinum/1794. Can someone please let me know what gets plugged into 1. and 2.? Are these plugs just a PnP off my current head lights? Also are there any plugs that are not shown on this photo that I need to know about? Thanks in advance for your help!

    1. Park light - your sr5 has that
    2. Leveling motor - your sr5 might have that
Red 8 pin - harness you are making
Red 3 pin - signal light that you will have to repin but your sr5 has that connector

Thanks @BlueBottle! I'll check and see if I have that leveling motor...more than likely I don't but never know. Anyone happen to have a photo of what the OEM Bulb Input off the Morimoto gets plug into? And what size fuse are people using in the Morimoto and in-line fuse ..... 5 amp or 10 amp? Also does the 12 V Power cord get connected to the big battery in the truck or is there a smaller one?

There was a diagram that @jdm ctr '00 drew up on page 3 that will work as factory without having to use the morimoto control unit , the only difference is you are using a H4 pigtail instead od the 9006 pig tails. it would be 90% plug and play with the exception of running 1 wire inside and depinning 1 wire at the control unit and be done with everything.

I have seen the diagram @jdm ctr '00 drew up on page 3. He as well as @thomasbus337 and @BlueBottle have helped me a lot getting to understand how to wire these new lights. Now from what I have read and understand that since I have an SR5 (not a platinum or 1794) I will still need the morimoto control unit since my truck did not have DRL lights. My truck only come with amber DRL lights which I disabled when I cut the small grey wire under the steering wheel on J29.

That gray wire you cut is the only wire that needs to go in the engine bay to 1 relay to control the led's, if you want them to work as factory without the morimoto unit. I believe the morimoto unit makes you put the high beams on to control the Hi side of the LED'S.
I've done plenty sr5/limited first gen platinum headlights conversions so its not a problem

If I'm not mistaken, the morimoto control unit is used to run both the low and high beams at the same time. The drl harness is on a separate relay.

A wire harness @thomasbus337 made at first is all you need and 1 relay with some elbow grease you’ll have a 90% plug and play harness.

Me too, and I already have the lights installed. I used the Morimoto H4 Relay harness because without it the low beam LED headlight would shut off when the highs were turned on. I did a quick Google search and found a few diagrams on how to wire it up differently using a relay and diodes. I already had the Moto relay harness installed from the HID retrofit I was replacing so for simplicity I adapted the new wiring with what I already had. The Moto harness has nothing to do with the LED DRL's

Are these the V6s you are talking about for the signal flashers?

Yes. I preordered them. If you order make sure to order the correct bulb and add the vlr resistor.

Yes, you will want to make sure you order them with the 3157CK base. If you order them for 7444 base you'll have to move pins, with the 3157CK you won't
