Yea both fused underhood, nothing is ignition control since the 85 does it all.

I just run 1 wire inside and the rest is done underhood

This info definitely helps to simplfy the wiring. If I didn't already have mine set up with a AOB dash switch to control them I would go this route instead.

Can you elaborate where the orange wire is coming from? Also just want to clarify if 30 is 12v fused from the battery, where is a good place for 86? Just tap into any 12v source??

Hello @thomasbus337 hey do you have the part number for the pigtail in the flasher relay I already have my gray wire unpinned and would like to try this new DRL wiring you and @inferno_pro_satx are talking about to get power from to activate the led drl relay I need that pigtail to make it a clean install I think is a 14 or 16 plug connector, I think if this work I prefer this way to make it work as factory

@inferno_pro_satx said he would be drawing up a diagram. It has less parts and easier to wire up.

So this need a 4 pin relay right? I'll try this next week and I think this can be done under dash and just the Bright DRL signal coming from relay in cabin to 8 pin connector DRL HI/Pin and attach the Purple wire/parking to the 8 pin connector DRL LOW/pin, in the 8 pin connector the ground is shared for all lightning sources LOW/HI DRL, in theory this will be the perfect install like factory LED DRLs should work but not sure, Im still waiting for my headlights so no way to try this until next monday or tuesday

Is this right for you guys?

The orange wire on the drl Headlights is the low beam drl's, the drl strip dims when the parking lights are turned on. You can put 30 & 86 together fused at the battery.

Yes if you wire it like as I said it will be completely factory function.
The gray wire just sends a ground for the hi drl relay
The purple c bulb wire can go to the low beam drl's and they don't need a relay cause the LED's draw very low current.

If you already have the thin gray wire depinned just run a wire to the enginebay connected to that wire. You don't need a pig tail going into the drl control unit.

Just seen you posted, they don't have to be acc ignition, 86 & 30 can be ran directly to the battery fused with a 5 amp. They won't have any draw because the relay isn't energized.

Looks good to me. I just want to clarify something to hopefully save some confusion later. The orange wire, inferno_pro_satx is referring to in the relay drawing is not the orange wire that is shown in iHacker’s 8 pin harness photo above.

The wiring color info inferno_pro_satx is sharing relates to female 4 pin plug that would be present on a 14-17 Platinum/1794 LED DRL headlight.

If you are using this “how-to” to add the LED DRL function to the 2018 LED headlights there will be no orange wire to interface with. The purple parking light wire will be pin 6 on the 8pin connector and the pin 87 red wire output from the relays will go to pin 5. The 2018 LED headlight shares its single ground input wire so no additional ground wire will be needed.

No the orange wire is on the headlight/ drl strip, that's for the low beam drl that goes to the purple wire at the c bulb harness.

This is still true for the 14-17 LED DRL headlights, but the 2018 full LED headlights only have a single 8 pin shared plug for the entire LED portion of the headlight with no visible wire colors when looking at the plug itself

The DRL wires on this plug are Red for HI LED DRL and Purple for Low LED DRL

I couldn't answer that, haven't messed wit 18's yet or visually seen the connector just wire diagrams
Then that plug the purple wire should go to the c bulb factory purple and red to the relay.

Yes that is correct. I guess the point I was trying to make was that if you look at this headlight
Your red wire/orange wire/black wire info is correct, but if you were looking at the back of the new headlight,
there wouldn't be a visible orange wire to connect to, as everything LED related is connected to the 8 pin plug

Yea Toyota sucks for doing that.
You couldn't trace back the wires from behind the connector? If it was me I'd use my power probe and start powering up pins and see what each wire does after I know for sure what my ground wire was and go from tere.

I think he have a orange wire because he have Diode dynamics switchbacks in his DRL strip that's why I that orange wire in my retros too but is for the switchbacks not for the DRL function

The orange wire is factory on all platinum headlights, the drl harness has 3 wire red/orange/ blk
The drl harness is under the c bulb, this is 14-18 with lower drl strips
