I guess I don't know what you mean by shroud adapters, can you explain so I can help you further?

 

i don’t know either. But it’s an option on the morimoto kit. Don’t know if it’s needed or not.

 

If I didn't need them on two retrofits, I would guess you don't either.

@SouthPaw do you have any Tricks/Tips to add since you’ve recently turned into Professional Projector Man?

 

Take your time and don’t force anything.

It’s going to take a lot of patience and a steady hand. The adhesive (at least on the aftermarket headlights) turnS into stringy taffy once you heat it up. It gets on EVERYTHING if you aren’t careful.

I’ve had great luck with my cheapie Amazon HID kits on all my vehicles so I personally don’t see the need to spend $160+ on a morimoto kit.

 

Agreed. My first retrofit was on a Nissan Frontier .I used $30 mini h1 projectors from Amazon and a cheap HID kit and the output was way better than the stock halogen bulbs. The only thing I didn't like was the high beam output was a little on the weak side.

Ya ya ya... I'm here, getting caught up

So I've been tinkering with HID's since 2009-ish? The originally ones I used were made by a company called VVME. Literally shipped straight from CHY-NA and smelled like when you opened up the package. They worked great! Big bulky units!

For the last 3-4 vehicles (I go through a lot), I have been using Xtreme Vision's. During Rona stage 1, Xtreme Vision's lead time was too long so I used a Xentec on one of my motorcycles. They have all worked flawlessly.

Yikes those are spendy. Should be pretty sweet though.

 

Ya. High Dolla, but in doing the maths vs other lights I could spend $250 total for a substandard LED setup or about $500 for these schweetlys. Basically a $250 premium. Those reviews tell a story. Check out that low beam action.

Someone needs to 3D print a smaller mini H1 diameter shaft that can be attached to those MLED 2.0s for an even easier install into most headlight housings.

 

Thank you so much for this thread! Followed this almost step-by-step to put some projectors in my 01 Sequoia. I cheaped out on stuff, bought aftermarket headlamps ($80), cheapo projectors ($30), and H1 5000k HID with 55w ballasts ($60) but it turned out awesome. Needs a little more adjusting but overall I love it!
