Was browsing cars.com. Came across a brand new 2018 platinum. Msrp $53,388. Just curious about what kind of pricing should be paid for it. Thoughts?

What’s the pricing on a new 2020 Platinum? That truck should be priced in the 40’s.

If you purchased this truck, drive it off the lot, still two years old with zero miles. Warranty has been eaten up on the 5/60k and instantly lose value due to age.

I’m surprised the owners didn’t wholesale that truck before paying taxes on it.

Doesn’t warranty start on purchase date?

Is this at a Toyota dealership? Then I would think so.

Unless you really like the 2018 model year and the truck is exactly what you want....I probably would pass.

No... more like the AC system changed and the old radiator isn’t compatible. So there was a redisgn and people that make decisions eliminated it. I’m not the engineer that designed it so I’m not aware of all the reasons it was removed.

You can tow all day with a 2020 and not have issues. My neighbor does and has had no issues, but he tows a 23 foot boat of reasonable weight, and a 18 foot dual axle trailer... not a big travel trailer.

    I want that car play.

I was just curious about pricing. I personally haven’t seen it. It’s at a local dealer. Only see bed mat and black tundra inserts as options. And moon roof.

You will probably be surprised but you could most likely get a better deal on a 2019 or 2020. From my experience when they have 2 or more model year older vehicles on the lot they don't like to budge too much.

That’s what I was thinking @nowayout. Some guys have picked up 19 platinums for close to 44k. If this 2018 was closer to 39k I think it would be good?

I drove 4.5 hours to get my 2016 Limited with 73k miles for $29,800 off a lot. I got very lucky when I was looking, I could not find anything under $35,000 locally in Kentucky. I searched for a good month and found very few options that fit what I was looking for. I did however get a quote from a local Toyota dealership for $44K on a brand new 2019 limited that had everything I wanted. My buddy that works there also told me that there was probably a little more wiggle room on that so I could have probably got it down to about $42k out the door. But I did not want a brand new truck either.

Warranty starts at purchase date but I would think you should be able to get it for low to mid 40s. If I took the rebate I could've paid 44k for my 1794 with MSRP of 53.2k. I elected for the 0%

The vitriol over the elimination of the transmission cooler is gaining momentum.
If anyone is debating a 2018 versus a newer model, you will want to consider this thread:
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/2019-5-7-trans-cooler-location.33216/

Time will tell if the engineers made the right choice, but there is proof of significantly higher transmission temps, even when not towing. They dropped the cooler for the 19 model year.

Last March I picked up a 2018 1794 crewmax 4x4 for $44k with a little over 6,000 miles. Included all the options except the TRD offroad package and also included the factory option hard fold tonneau cover and the dual TRD exhaust. Car was first purchased in AZ May of 2018 so it wasn't even a year old when I bought it.

I wonder why they chose to do that. It's a rock solid, proven engine/transmission combo that goes back to 2007. Maybe they are planning on doing it this way with the next Gen Tundra and are using the last couple years of the current Gen as a test?

Did you verify on the dealership's website that the truck was still in stock? Could have been missed by their internet department and never pulled. Toyota would have pulled any factory rebates for 2018 earlier this year, the current ones are for MY19.
