I can certainly understand that. I think as long as you don't cover it in anime, put an obnoxious fart can exhaust on it, and so much negative camber that the tread doesn't touch the road, you're probably okay.

There's a bunch of these morons around my office that can't even go straight into a driveway.

Test drove this great looking 1994 MR2 last weekend. Needs a little TLC but overall in solid shape. Would be a fun project/weekend car, but the price is a bit too high for me to seriously consider it.

7 count our current ones. One Tacoma, one Avalon, one Highlander, three Tundras. All have been trouble free. 600,000 miles plus total.

1988 Pickup - My dad bought it new and it became my first vehicle from 1998 to 2002
2001 Corolla - My first ever dealership purchase back in '02 when certified used cars were a new concept
2012 Tacoma - Only had her for a couple years as we decided to start a family and it was a single cab
2012 RAV4 - Wife's ride when I had the Taco...only got rid of it after a collision with a deer
2008 Tundra - Current daily driver, didn't mind buying a 15 year old truck when it was a Toyota with low mileage and spotless maintenance history!
    2021 4Runner - Wife's current daily driver/family hauler/occasional adventure rig

In between we had a couple Subarus, a Honda, a Mazda and even a Chevy (briefly, only because my company was selling their fleet vehicles dirt cheap and it made it a good flip). Some good cars, but Toyota just has a way of always calling us back home.

    1985 Tercel Wagon 4x4 Manual

    2013 Tundra SR5 5.7 4x4 - current

Looks like the Tundra is a forever truck; only has 117k right now.
Matrix is endearing in its own simpleton sort of way. Probably will have to keep it cause of crazy car prices right now…

I sort of regret not buying my dad's 2003 Matrix when he sold it 5 years ago.

Looking at those crazy prices makes me wish I'd held onto my '88 pickup. Just saw a nice one from the same year sell for double the original MSRP on bring a trailer yesterday.

My Tundra is probably also a forever truck. '08 5.7 with only 78k.

'93 4Runner 4x4 SR5-first car. Forest Green Metallic, still my favorite Toyota color. Very underpowered but that thing was awesome.
'96 4Runner 4x4 SR5 (RIP) multiple xcountry trips before getting hit
'99 4Runner 4x4 Limited - longest tenure, most mods, adventures. Still have
'17 Tundra 4x4 Limited - my new obsession!

Come to think of it, most of my family drives Toyota too. Many, many Ravs, 4Runners, Tacos, Camrys and Siennas over the years. The one that hurts still is my FIL selling his '97 LX450 10 years ago for peanuts before I could get my hands on it.

Recently sold the 85 pickup and FJ40 as I received insane offers for both.

Over 2 million miles on the above with very little trouble. Besides age/wear maintenance (hoses, fluids, pads, etc.) 99 Tacoma had airbag rattle and an undergreased wheel bearing, 03 4Runner had frozen front calipers, 11 4Runner had the Takata airbag issue and rr door lock actuator went bad, 88 Camry had bad linkage in 4wd, 85 pickup had bed rust when I sold it last year (minimal) And had to do the bic pen trick with the horn. 88 Land Cruiser has sticky lock actuators but still work. PO rebuily tranny. Currently at close to 270k miles and runs smooth.

Preemptively rebuilt FJ40 Transmission and Transfer case at 150k mikes although everything was good. Had to replace its exhaust manifold as well.

20 4Runner usb plug was finicky so bought a replacement.

23 Tundra wipers would not turn off the day I bought it. Dealer was 3 hours from me so I took it and had a local dealer repair (wire from wiper harness came out and was contacting bare metal).

Comparatively, my first vehicle was a 91 Mazda rebadged Ranger. Within the less than 7k miles I drove when I owned it, the 4wd went out, tranny went out twice, head cracked and it went to the scrap heap.

2 for me. First Toyota was a 22 Tacoma that I traded for my tundra. Never got the hype, but now I get it. I LOVE my tundra.
