4 pages in, someone's gotta say it. Yota virgin here, but I have owned her for five years now and with minimal issues, which is longer than any other vehicle I've owned except for a Series IIa landrover. I loved the landy but we had to keep a couple of dead ones in the yard in order to keep one on the road. Despite the maintenance challenges, I'd never turn down the chance to have another landy but over here they make Tundras look cheap.
And since the landy I'd only ever had the budget for cheap and nasty jalopies which made anything Japanese a distant dream.

you know what they say, 90% of all Land Rovers sold are still out there on the road. The other 10% made it back home.

All of that in only 17 years. I tended not to hold onto a vehicle very long but I plan to keep the Tundra until the wheels fall off. The Celica, 2001 T4R, and 2002 IS300 all made the round trip from Utah to Alaska and back for summer work.

My 1994 3.0 had no compression on cylinder 6 when I sold it, so imagine it struggling along on only 5 cylinders lol.

Oh man. I can't imagine. It was the most underpowered vehicle I've ever owned. Worse than the Corolla honestly. It was my first vehicle at 16 and my poor dad spent a fortune trying to get it running right. It never was reliable.

    It looked nice though.

My dad had a red 1995 T4R, I still think it was the best looking one out of our fleet of 4Runners. He got it repainted after driving it for 20 years and it looked SHARP. Too bad he totaled it about a year and a half later.

Edit: found a pic after it had been repainted, that's my 2001 behind it. He totaled it just a couple of months after this pic was taken sadly.

    * '90 barebones pickup new on lot. 2WD, no rear bumper, no pass mirror, MT, no AC, $5600. Sold for $1800 in 2005, 192k miles. Did head gasket under warranty, valve job and timing chain at 160k miles
    * '97 Taco barebones single cab new on lot. 4WD, 2.7l, MT, no AC, $15600. Sold for $8200 in 2012 with 101k miles. Did a TPS and fuel pump out of warranty. Had a Leer 122 hirise cap on it.
    * '12 Taco SR5 AC new on lot, 4.0, MT, 4WD, $29k new, sold for $27k in 2014 with a Leer 180 midrise cap and Baja suspension kit, 22k miles.
    * '05 Tundra Limited AC 4.7l 4WD bought used in 2014. 106k miles, like new port installed leather seats, no rust, $14600. Sold in 2016 with 122k miles, put a Leer 100 cap on it and Bilstein 4600 shocks, $13,200. Sweet truck.
    * '07 4Runner 4.7l 4WD Limited bought used 2016, 110k miles, $16800. Donated to Souldog Rescue 2017 with 118k miles, Toytec Boss lift, airbags rear, 2014 Kodiak 166E trailer attached. Still in service doing rescues. That little beast towed the giant Airstream mobile spay/neuter clinic in my avatar many miles.
    * '08 4Runner Limited 4WD 4.7l bought used 2017 with 95k miles, $17200. Reman'd CVJ front axles, Toytec Boss lift, rear airbags, in my driveway with 126k miles.
    * '19 Sequoia SR5 4WD bought used 2021 with 29k miles, $35k. Technically don't own it, went into Souldog Rescue's name at the dealer. They love that machine, was on the Navajo Rez this past weekend mudding around doing rescues. Well over 100k miles now with a good amount of it towing.

Along the way we had a '91 Camry wagon (sweet) and a '01 Lexus GS300, sweet I6. Electronically governed at 154mph and I believe it could do it easily. Took it to 120mph once and it got there fast. Sweet engine note. I do love I6 engines, had a few Mercedes I6's

Someone caught me at a weak moment and a pocket full of cash. It was a LOT of profit, but wasn’t worth it in hind sight.

Same boat as you buddy. I owned both an FJ60 and FJ62. I sold them both to free up some liquid to purchase my 23 limited. Should’ve at least hung on to the FJ62. It was a great rig. 175AFB7E-BB4A-46BA-AD77-6475517CED52.jpgEDEE2AAF-5220-44DB-8716-E97076F74593.jpg

Just 3 for me so far. Started in 2016.

2005 Toyota Sequoia SR5 purchased in 2016, sold in 2018.
2014 Toyota Tundra Limited TRD OR 4x4. Purchased in 2018, still own.
2018 Toyota Highlander XLE AWD. Purchased in 2021, still own.

Owned a bunch of other brands before that. Still have a '95 Wrangler. But plan on sticking with the Toyotas.

I'm on my 4th and for a daily driver, I wouldn't buy outside of the brand. I do want a sports car so obviously that'd have to be another brand, but also just a toy and not my regular use vehicle.

    I've had:
    2001 Carolla
    2015 Avalon
    2022 Tacoma
    2022 Tundra (current)

382 HP, 367 Ft/lb, and a 6 speed manual should be kinda' sporty. :p:bananadance: I didn't think I liked the look of the new Supra's when they came out but it's growing on me.

It's probably a lot of fun but I'm really turned off by the Japanese tuner scene. It's sort of like The Grateful Dead - the music isn't that bad, but the fan base is god awful obnoxious about it. I don't want any association with their car culture even if they are overall great sports cars. In short, it's not the car, it's the behavior of everyone who associates with it.

We’ve had 8 total over the years including 3 currently. Must give my dad props to getting us into toyota fan club before everyone else jumped in, since 2004. His favorite was 2008 highlander, mine is 2020 tundra.
