I couldn't even imagine towing with a Tundra and only having 26 gallons. It was one of the reasons I got rid of my Tacoma. I had to carry around a gas can just in case and I actually had to use it once in a remote area.

So far I'm very happy with the truck. I've only had it a week. But coming from an Ovtuned 2018 tacoma on 32x10.50's , to the tundra has been a great experience. On the commute to work I'm getting about the same mpg, mostly highway. And the power is incredible. As long as I can get around 325 a tank I'll be happy.

The 38 gallon was released for the 2016 tundra and was originally only for the SR5 premium and higher trims. Recently they changed it to include all of the SR5s with the 5.7L.

I can go about 220-240 in the winter time letting it idle and I'm mainly in town driving so about 9mpg. I also have a lift and 37's and an aftermarket front bumper. When I was stock I was getting about 320 or so which is about 15mpg. But I dont baby it at all. Drive it pretty rough. Hope that helps.

Not enough. I loved my 15 TRD Off Road, but the fuel tank sizr is literally the only reason I bought a newer model with the larger tank.

I get 330-350 with a Sequoia on the highway, but I generally drive in beast mode. Seems to save me some serious gas. Also, non ethanol gas if you can find it might help as well. I made Burlington, VT to Springfield Ma in 4wd high during s snow storm at 18.9 mpg.

Yes. Just drive it until the computer says "0" to empty and then fill up. You will not run out of gas.

    A tonneau won't make a difference.

Can hardly believe Toyota let’s a truck hit the road with that short of a range. Would drive me nuts.
Glad I was aware of this when I bought and I made sure to get the 38ga tank. If I had the 26ga it would be high up on my mod list to get a larger tank for this thirsty beast!
On another note I have 8-9ga left when my fuel light turns on. Sounds like a similar amount remains in the 26ga tank.
I could drive my 2010 Prius over 150miles once it said empty! Must be a Toyota thing?

Small world. I randomly clicked on this thread and you mention cranberry/zeli. Grew up in both places. In fact about a month ago I took my wife down to both to show her my old stomping grounds. Sorry for the thread Jack. Back to what you were doing.

    Tastefully enhanced...
Winter fuel and 90% "city" driving gets me about 280 mile/tank...that's driving like a grandma...I see about 10-11mpg

Highway driving gets me above 17mpg when not going above 75mph...70mph seems to be my sweet spot for both time and efficiency...

My Sequoia w-a/5.7 will do 360 in mixed driving (16.5 mpg hand calculated) when Low Fuel lites up, 400 w/LTE=0 miles yet I can only put in about 19.5 gallons so I figure there are several still left in 26g tank for an 'emergency' but don't want to punish fuel pump trying to find out just how much is really left. Luckily there are no places in US where there is not a fuel station at least 360 miles apart.

    Luck all.

About 300 before I get more gas, light has never come on for me because I'm a chicken! That fuel gauge moves a lot in between 100-225 miles on the tank and the last 100 or so it barely budges it seems.

Mythbusters proved it doesn't make any difference. I also saw no difference.

I have a 17 CM, 4.6 with 49k. I have the Falken Wildpeak AT3 3k ago from stock tires. My display says 17.6 mpg average and my distance to empty says 390 miles or so after I fuel up. When I Travel about 322miles, door to dooor to my pops place, all on highway on one tank of fuel I have about 30- 50 miles left till empty. My light goes on at about 35 mi till empty Pretty much alt he time. However, when I fuel up top off tank and refuel to 18/19 gallons ( full). I do math I get 17.1 mpg and always average between 16.7 to 17.3 on several trips. It does appear the truck is accurate. And pleased with the distance and mpg.
