1/4 tank but it also depends on fuel prices. I top off when the fuel prices drop (before they shoot back up).

Fuel pump shouldn't be an issue should it? considering a 38 gallon tank but the computer doesn't register the last 10 gallons I usually fill at a 1/4 tank takes about 20 gallons because 10 is there to keep the pump cool?

1/2 tank.Like to have fuel for disaster/emergency situations. It is not a good feeling evacuating a wild fire with the fuel light on.

I'm doing a bunch of fluid changes this weekend. I know that when the light comes on, it still takes 30 gallons so there's still plenty of gas in there. I put a bottle of Techron with about 20 gallons of fuel, and will do my oil change this weekend.

Otherwise, I'd say probably quarter tank from now on.

Truth. I start to panic at half full and find a gas station.
Now my wife - she will run her car past "E" and the needle is about to hit the floor before she looks at the gauge and says " I can go another 30 miles.."

Had mine only a month. 1st couple of weeks I would drive it 100 miles or so to verify the MPG reading. Must admit after driving sedans and corvettes the past 40 years that it does take some getting used to filling up the tank and the range shows 300 miles. Ouch. Right now I'm a 1/2 tank guy just to minimize the price shock at the pump

I top off on pay days. Which is usually between half to a quarter tank depending on how much I drive between checks.

1/3 of a tank or so. Otherwise I’d be getting gas three times a week, and the Costco I get gas at is pretty out of the way.

    When I have money.
Seriously though, out here we have 'plague of the week'. It's either flooding rain, or wildfires, or there is civil unrest, rats, drought or earthquakes. Something makes the price go sky high right when you want to fill it up. And with earthquakes, there will be no power for a week, so no pumps. So no gas. So I fill it up every weekend, at about 1/2 tank. I should be able to bug out with 1/2 a tank, and I can somewhat stomach the $$ filling up from that point. I get down to 1/4 or less and I might just find myself at the pearly gates when I see the cost.
