My truck will go to my oldest son in a few years. He loves this truck so much I simply couldn't trade it in. Once I talked about (and seriously considered) trading in this truck to get a Pro and almost broke his heart. My wife and I are softies when it comes to our children.

I have had my 2002 for 15 years. I intend to keep it and my 2016 Pro until they fall apart.

Well I'm at 103k on my 16. I'm gonna keep it till the truck gets shitty on inside and out. Or till there is an actual problem. Maybe if I get bored unless I need a bigger truck I'll just get another tundra. At my rate of 70k a year I'll probably be due for a new truck in a few years.

I put 180,000 miles on my '04 before trading it in on my '16. There were lots of nice improvements between those model years, so even though the '04 was still running strong, it was time to update. We'll see what the 4th gen looks like in a few years. Until then, I have no plans to update.

I bought mine to take me in to retirement and beyond. Retirement is 5-6 out depending on the kiddos. If I can get the last one out of school and on her own it might be sooner. If there is a major redesign as rumored in 2019 and I really like it I might be on the 4-5 year schedule as I have been for the last 20 or so. MPGs would have to improve a fair amount without loss of power and reliability and gas prices would have to go up. I will always have a boat and it will probably be my current 2200 Bay Champ that pushes 5000 lbs fully loaded so I will always have a full size truck. Like others it is the mods that will hold me back from selling. Current mods:

    - TRD grille
    - 6112 Bilsteins
    - Clazzio leather seat covers with custom stitching and logos
    - oh shit handle on driver's side
    - leds bulbs were they matter to me
    - auxiliary back up lights
    - 32" & 40" light bars
    - glove box tray and organizer

    Future:

    - maybe rear under seat storage, not sure I need

I have the truck just about where I want it

Last truck was 17 years old before I passed it on to my daughter. Planning on getting at least that out of the 2017 Tundra.

We still have our 2002 Sequoia and 2012 4Runner. We only got rid of my wife's 2007 Highlander because she did this to it.

    2027.
Our house is like Congress....although slightly more functional. The "Budget Committee," chaired by my wife, agreed to my proposal for a new Tundra, if I promised not to lobby for another vehicle until 2027. An amendment was added to sell the 15 year old motorcycle. The resolution passed and "Tundra Bill 2017" was moved to the full house for a vote. The measure passed and funds were allocated. There was NO emergency funding clause in the bill, so if the Tundra doesn't last 10-years, the "Rhubarb walks to work" bill will be up for a vote.

no plans to get rid of and it's paid off. yeah it can look old in couple years but it's a very functional truck. Function over form.

Just paid mine off this week in under 2 years of ownership and I keep my trucks a long time. I won't get rid of it unless something crazy happens. Now it's time for a new vehicle for my wife.

Some Mods :) See build thread for details
    Toyota Pickup = 98-02 = 4 years
    Ford Explorer = 02-07 = 5 years
    Toyota Tacoma = 07-14 = 7 years

Based on this progression i will have my Tundra for 10 years. I have had the tundra for almost 4 years now so i have 6 more years to go

Until I no longer feel safe jumping in it and heading cross country. For the Titan it replaced that was 135K. I'm figuring somewhere north of 200K.

A little of this and a little of that.
I bought mine last November and still love it like the first day I drove it. That said I usually keep a car until the repair bills get somewhere close to a monthly payment, then it’s time to get a new vehicle.

Since Toyota’s never break down, I’ll keep it forever. That doesn’t mean I won’t still get a new Tundy in several years.

I have a problem of buying and selling vehicles way too frequently. It's a waste of money and I'm hoping the quality and reliability of the Tundra will break that cycle. I'm hoping I can make it at least 5 years this time.

I was thinking about this today. Normally I fall out of love with a vehicle after a couple of years and start looking for something new. I've had mine for about 2 years now and if anything I love it more than when I got it.

When you regard a machine as a close friend, you know you have something special. I'm keeping mine until it's uneconomical to repair it.

Sold my 04 to my dad and figured he would get my next one. Problem is my 04 has 340k miles and still runs great. Told my dad he could have mine again when I hit 150k miles but seems like he is happy with the first one he got from me. Guess I'm keep this one for another 10 years or till a new update is out that I must have. Tundras just run forever and hold there value.

That why I think it's funny when people complain about gas mileage. Can you name another truck that sells for over 20k that's 7 or 8 years old

I kept my last truck for 16 year. It was 18 years old when I traded it in. So when this Tundra is old enough to vote I'll get rid of it. Or unless the Gen 4 or Gen 5 Tundras are really really really nice. And at Toyota's pace my '16 will be old enough.

Bought it as a work truck for my business so 3yrs, hopefully the next gen will be out then for me to trade up to. Only bad thing is now they have the stupid safety sense crap that I dislike...my 17' doesn't have that which I prefer.
