My Tundra would disagree with your performance comments. :)

I think you kind of answered your own question there.

I added the lighted ignition switch ring to my 2017 SR5. Pretty much plug and play to replace unlighted chip reader with a lighted one. Some disassembly required. Not sure if that majic still works on 2018+.

I bought my 2019 strictly because is "lacking" technology. Its a 1794 so it has all the luxury stuff I need. Drive a vehicle with the "Start/Stop" crud in it and you will love your low tech Tundra

Went from a 07 Tacoma SR5 DCLB to a 16 Tundra SR5 TRD-OR CM and have no regrets and won't look back. After getting the Tundra, I realize it's really a truck, while the Tacoma seems more like a car. Towing a pontoon boat is somewhat important for us and the Tacoma typically did fine, but always left me wondering if I was going to be able to stop. No more worries now.

This is exactly why after 20+ years of Toyota ownership, I decide to leave for one of the big 3.

After spending 45k+ for my 2013 Tundra CM, my wallet wouldn’t allow me to purchase a 3rd Gen Tundra. It’s Essentially the same truck with minimal updates.

If and when Toyota decides to give us a proper update then I’ll consider coming back. And judging by what I’ve been reading about the 2020 update, I’m not missing out on much.

Quite on topic. The big three make huge profits with cheap labor. Makes it easier/cheaper to add all that new soccer mom tech in their trucks that you need...just sayin..so...ok..

Are you saying Toyota is not a business looking to make a profit? I guess they just give Tundras away.

So using your logic. Toyota is “lacking” due to the fact they choose not to use cheap labor and not turn a profit.

What are you smoking over there in CO?

Errrr a UAW line employee is going to make between $15 and $30 an hour. Prob why even low trim F150 is going to run 50k. I’d rather support our unions.

Toyota has been historically slow making changes...especially their trucks. Profit margins are nothing like the big three...do your homework...what are you smoking wherever you are. Pics of your low tech CM???

Those UAW workers that lost their union jobs with all the recent bailed out GM plant closures might disagree...

The newer autos actually get better MPGs than manuals. Not sure about v8s but the Tacomas do

I don't know if it's still the case, but with the 2nd gen Tacomas, that was because 5th gear in the auto had a higher gear ratio than 6th gear in the manual.

I got the impression that the 6spd MT in the Tacoma was designed for towing. First gear was crazy low and 6th gear at highway speeds had the engine racing IMO.

That said, I still got better mileage with my 2007 Tacoma with 6spd MT than I was ever able to get with my 2015 Tacoma with 5spd AT, and I have the spreadsheet to prove it.
