I did check the bed corners for cracks, which they are currently not. I'm not convinced this will be an issue if all the weight is on the bed floor and nothing at all on the bed sides. With such a large camper and the tundra beds being pretty weak in general I'm going to build tie downs that go down to the frame.

In the end do you think you will save any money? $2,500 + sales tax + registration + repairs + 9mpg = $$$ + stress.

If I wanted to save money we wouldn't leave the house. I'm not stressed at all except getting it finished in time.

My Father inlaw did the exact same thing with his truck bed camper!!
Kinda like what I did with the James Baroud Pop up tent.
Once you unloaded the SxS off the trailer it became your front deck.

    My goodness ...
How much would doing the AB&B cost the entire way vs all the time & money put into the camper & the truck?
... and are those ratchet straps sufficient for holding the camper to the truck? Thought you needed frame mounted brackets, chains, and turnbuckles.
How stressed are you going to be the entire time driving that setup? Not going to make for a very relaxing vacation.

Not really stressful at all if you know your rig is adequately anchored to your truck.
Personally I'd rather be in my own camper at say lakeside rather than a mile away.
It's one of those things where you know everything's up to snuff or you dont take it out.
The biggest issue is having to take two vehicles, one for the boat and one for the camper.
Believe it or not some states will let you pull both, campers and boat behind the same vehicle.
Not that I'd wanna try that. I cant see how you'd tow both if you needed gas.
It would have to be a straight drive through and you'd have to know your path throughout the trip in order to get gas.
This is what makes truck bed campers so appealing.

2 weeks of airbnbs could easily be $2500. And you're stuck to a schedule unless you want to try finding one everyday which can be stressful. Or just ride on your own schedule with the camper and stop whereever looks good. I can sell in a year or 2 and get my money back.

The straps were to get it home. I'm going to build some frame mounts since Torklift wants $900 for theirs.
