I like my 870, but I'm left eye dominate and shoot a long gun left handed. I need to get a cushion for the stock though. I come home with my shoulder bruised up, lol.

If he sold it for cash to that scumbag, he would still have been prosecuted, I guarantee it. There are some pissed off people here.

Thankfully, your feelings don't matter. The law and the facts are what matters.
    I'm out.

He wasn’t convicted for selling the gun to the guy who later shot a cop. He was convicted for being a felon in possession of a firearm. From the article:

“Garland, prosecutors said, has a history of felony convictions and knew he was legally barred from having a firearm.”

Yeah, bad example on my part. And I'm not spending any time Googling to find a better one, lol. I just remembered they were going after him for providing the gun.

Gunbroker reaches a lot of sellers and their fees aren’t too bad. FFL and shipping costs should be picked up by the buyer and notate it in your ad. Gunshows can be a mixed bag. With the current Covid restrictions I’m guessing their attendance might be a little lower than usual but it could be the opposite too. What I like about online is the price is agreed upon up front, no haggling, and you’re shipping to an FFL so there’s a legal paper trail.

Oh, I have no doubt law enforcement will trace the serial # to the buyer on the 4473 form. My guess is when they asked the cop shooter where he got the gun, he ratted out Garland in hopes of getting any kind of a plea deal. I’m sure they also asked Garland where he got the gun since he’s not allowed to legally buy one.

I'd bet $ they'll cancel April 2021, but hopefully we'll be back to semi normal in November.

Its funny how many people have some attachment to any random gun.

I've sold a lot of guns I've bought and built a ton of guns.

Several times in my life o have realized I have too many guns. Sometimes its too many in general, other times I realize I have 5 .357 revolvers and dont need or want them all. A couple times I have consolidated my collection to only consist of 4 calibers.

Its a gun. Unless its a collectible, an heirloom, or a useful tool, there is no reason not to sell it, assuming you don't want or need to keep it.

Several times selling a few smaller, less desirable guns have funded a larger purchase for me...

Hell, my friend's dad just died. He passed down a full spreadsheet of firearms to my friend. My friend is keeping those he desires, a few that hold sentimental value because he shot them as a kid, and is selling the rest.

Some are acting like a gun is an extension of yourself. Its not.

If they dont all fit in your safe its ok to sell some. Don't have a safe? Well then they all don't fit in your safe...

If you're not local you will have to pay transfer fees on both ends, and shipping..

Probably not going to save any $$ at all after all is said and done, unless the seller is willing to either commit a felony or sell at a steep discount.

Back when i worked at a gun store we had a 40% margin on guns for cash. Guns for trade were 20%. Find a place that will give you store credit towards another gun. Don’t do consignment or cash. If your LGS wont do it then find another one. Not worth the hassle of selling privately just for another $100.

I can see how it didn't read humorously, but that's how it was meant. More of a joke my grandfather always said. You can always make more money for more guns and better to have and not need than need and not have. It was just a funny joke that I say to my many fun owning friends...

Sure sell whatever you'd like. It's your trucks, your guns, homes etc. Sorry for any confusion.

    Enjoy the ride.

This is why I catch grief from my wife...."don't you have enough guns?

Uhh no...I inherited many and purchased some of my own...I'd like to buy more. Imagine I've only filled a small portion of the safe...

    But they're still yours

    Yes but...

    uh huh???

    I just want more!!!

Eye roll commences, I show up with new gun, she thinks it's coo,l shoots it, goes in safe, doesn't care anymore until this process repeats itself

But.. its a felony to transfer a firearm from one individual to another if you live in different states, unless you go through an FFL on both sides of the transaction.

So yeah, if you are both willing to commit a felony then its not a problem I suppose..

He doesn't have to be nice. Clearly he doesn't think federal firearms laws are worth following. It doesn't matter if he's the chief of the tribe, its not legal to transfer a firearm from one individual to another across state lines. The reservation exists in the state of Oklahoma. Texas is, last I checked, a separate state. Without transferring through a licensed FFL out of OK and in to TX you are both engaging in felonious trafficking of a firearm and are risking having your gun rights stripped.

Its stupid and I don't agree with it, but it is the law and they take it very seriously.

I'm a type 03 FFL holder and have been buying and selling guns for many years.. legally and with a record in every case. You guys should be careful and understand what you are potentially getting in to.

I thought we could make the transaction at a FFL in OK, but after more careful review of the law, you are correct, I would have to drive to TX. Thanks.

I thought about buying it but stated earlier in this thread an FFL transfer, including shipping of the firearm, would be required...

Even if I lived in Gainesville Texas and the seller lived in Thackerville Oklahoma (13 miles apart) you need to an FFL transfer.
The state line makes a lot of difference in Federal laws...
