If your truck is empty, I’d say the springs are bad. Maybe someone with the same generation can chime in. I’d probably look for a leaf spring / shackle lift and ditch the 6” blocks.

    Who installed your lift?

    Do you carry much weight?

If the springs are bad the Sumos are just a bandaid.

I don’t think you’re looking at a catastrophic spring failure, but I’d get them replaced sooner then later.

Your springs look very very flat. Some of the newer trucks seem to have some bad springs. Unfortunately big lift blocks are just going to kill them faster. Lift blocks are a poor way to lift a truck.

Lift companies use them because it’s cheap

If i was you i would return the sumo springs and use the money towards a full custom leaf pack

    This. All of this.

When the leaf springs have a negative arch (like the picture shows) it’s time to replace them.

Thanks guys. I had the same shop that put my lift on does the dealership uses. I am not going to put any money in it. I will carry it back to the dealership. They told me that it will be fine to tow my 5000 pound boat with my lift. If not I will trade out. My out town trip has been cancelled due to the Hurricane coming in. So I will talk to them come Tuesday.

Update. Went to the dealership and spoke with the spoke sales person they are open just the sevice is closed and he told me that I will need to upgrade the springs on the truck if I am going to pull my boat. He said that most folks didn’t us a Tundra to heavy. I call BS!! Is that not crazy??? So now get a different truck or upgrade the springs. So what will be the best way to go and not break the bank?? Wife wants to keep the look of the truck cause she loves the look and see likes driving it. Lol. Thanks.

Call Alcan and tell them exactly what you have and what you want to do with it and they will build you a custom pack. You can ditch the shackles and it’s happy days.

Leaf packs are relatively inexpensive. You should have no issues towing a boat though, no idea why your salesman would say that. Unless it’s over 8k the tundra won’t even feel it.

That’s actually kinda not true. With blocks and weight it’ll axle wrap. Depends how heavy your boat is if you should do it or not.

This hole post is suprising me and you know why. I haven't had any issues there must be some difference between the 3rd and 2nd gen tundras that's all I can think of . Now heck yes the leaf packs will be in my future also but for now they have held up good. With the stock and lift blocks.

Those springs don’t give 6 inches of lift. You need custom.

My neighbor has a 08 and his is fine. He tows a boat and campers with his stock tundra. He looked at mine and said dang. They don’t make like they used to.

No offense. But s few down falls of the 3rd gen then the 2nd gens. Alot of people say the 2nd gen seems to have a little more power also not sure why.

A custom spring pack will suit you very well. It will handle better and you can build it to your desired height.

Blocks put a ton of leverage on the leaf spring. When you press the gas, the axle wants to twist. Our leaf springs are pretty weak (compared to how thick they are on a 1 ton truck for example). We also have a ton of power. So when you add in a lift block, the axle can now really put the twist on the spring. This constant stress wears the springs out faster. It does seem like the gen 3 springs wear out quicker. Maybe toyota softened them up in 2014?

This kit is great, however, will only provide 2.6" of lift (unloaded) in the rear. Like someone else said, you'd need a custom set to get the full 6" that you need. That's the best way to go though, to replace the whole leaf pack. I'm in the process of trying to decide what to use to lift my Tundra, but I've lifted countless Jeeps and always prefer the full leaf pack vs. blocks.

Actually that pack has an option to go 4” unloaded. So that plus the Coachbuilder #3 shackle will get you almost to 6 inches.

The rear passenger will over compensate for the front driver's side being higher than the rest. I thought it sounded funny but when installed, it worked.

But typically the driver side is low causing the right rear to come up. So when you add a shim to that it will bring the rear passenger back down. His rear passenger side is low so adding a shim to the front left will make it even worse. Also he says his front shocks seem to be exactly the same. Adding a shim to the front right may bring the left rear back down. But may expose another problem with the front now not being level. I would start with a jack and crank up on one of the front corners to see if the measurement changes. Obviously it will. But I’m not sure that’s his problem.
