How did you wire your aftermarket Heated Seats? - 2018 DC

I am planning on a whole bunch of mods (Amp, footwell lights, remote starter, folding rear seats, 12v constant charger and heated seats) for the interior of the cab and gathering parts to knock it all out in one day. I am wondering how folks wired the heated seats so that they only have power when the ignition is on. Since I am adding an amp, I could install a separate fuse block and then a relay to power the seats, but am hoping to avoid that if I can use an add a fuse somewhere to support the heated seats wiring. The heated seats need 10 amps for both front driver and passenger seats.

I just tapped into the power outlet since I had switches to fit the factory knockouts anyway.

Those fuses reside in the left footwell. I put my switches here:

And this is how you get there:

I want to do this to mine with cloth seats. What kits are you all using?

I haven't picked out the kits yet, but had good luck with kits out of Amazon when I did my CJ7 seats. Under $75 and I look for good reviews with the type of switch that will fit my application. I think I will install the switches where Joshua installed his because they are easily seen/accessed.

Removing and reapplying the seats with hog rings or ties is so much work, it’s well worth it to install something new per your budget and fancy, whether low/high end Katzkins, WetOkoles etc.

These warmers weren’t available when I did mine but their switches will fit in factory trim slots, in the comments a Taco owner installled them.

If not those, get ones with at least good seat coverage as they do come in different sizes.

Where did you put your usb? Also did your heater have 3 wires or 2 wires at the end?

Removed the USB plug. Never used one in any of the vehicles I have ever owned.

    Three wires. Power/Ground/Illumination.

Do you have a picture of the fuses you tapped? I also have 3 wires and wanted to see where you plugged yours.

I just connected them to the power and ground wires on the back of the 12V power outlets instead of running to the fuse box.

So you connected the power and the illumination to the power wire on the 12v outlet?

Correct - just tied them together but you could always pick up illumination from one of the other nearby switches.

^^THIS^^ It's what I did as well. The only downside is the fuse box cover won't fit following a fuse tap so now it's a glove compartment ornament. Meh.

Did anyone ever use a switch pros 9100 to operate their heated seats?

Just make sure you plug in the yellow airbag connector before cycling the ignition.

Not sure what you mean by cycling the ignition. I will be installing the amp AND installing a remote car starter so I was planning on starting the truck while the seats are removed. Will that be a problem?

Yes I’ve hear that that causes some of the dash lights to come on. Why don’t you test it before you pull out the seats?

Success on the heated seats install. I also added footwell lights, an alphine amp to replace the stock amp, pop and lock to the tailgate, always on USB, and a remote start....One thing I noticed on the 2018, that there is NO fuse for heated seats labeled. - Anyone know if its labeled something else? I did tap into the 15 amp Radio one with a mini add a fuse - which by the way is not that mini because there is no room for the cover to pop back on. Anyway, I used the radio fuse for the time being because if I blow the fuse I can certainly live with out radio until I replace the fuse.

Damn man that sounds like a ton of work for one day lol. Ive done the remote star and pop lock but i did those at different times haha. Look into the FRAC harness if that is something of interest to you. I have it in my truck it is a front facing camera.

I bought the harness off of tech 12 volts. It takes a bit to figure out because I did have to bypass the TpMs sensor and i have a factory alarm. The instructions.....well...its mostly a video...and he did send a pdf after I reached out and told him the horn beeped when starting the truck remotely. I thinks it's all sorted out, but it doesnt always start on the third push of the lock button. I have only had it a few days so still getting used to it I guess

Do you happen to remember what size fuse supplies the 12V outlets? My seat heaters have a 15A fuse already in-line which would be redundant but not a big deal I guess if mine were hooked to a 12V outlet. My seat heaters have 4 wires. Black (gnd), Red (power), red/yellow (ACC), and a yellow wire (interior light/illumination). I'm having my Katzkins installed tomorrow at a local shop and they will wire the heaters as well. I was a little concerned how they'd wire them but sounds like a lot of people connect to 12V outlets. I guess in my case, everything but the ground will connect to the power wire on the outlet? If so, my seat heater switch won't illuminate when the lights are turned on but only while being used, right?
