Two of the most noble jobs one can have, band director and teacher and yes they don't pay them enough. Your kids are awesome and you should be a proud dad.

My son is an eagle scout and just finished his first year at University with straight A's. He also plays oboe in the Symphony. Right now he is in Paris for 2 months doing an international program and he just asked me if he can go to Monaco this weekend for the F1. I said HELL yeah, you so deserve it.
My daughter in other hand, is work in progress and I am still looking for her manual But I am sure she will be as awesome as she can be as long they stay happy and healthy.

 

Wow, an Eagle Scout. That’s amazing. I know what kind of work and dedication it takes to get that honor. I imagine he’s going to do well wherever life takes him. As for your daughter, some people just take a little longer to find their groove. I know I did. Hell, I’m still a work in progress at 48.

Dude built that place at the corner of three different counties. I think Liberty county technically has jurisdiction but they pretend it’s not even there. It’s put a huge strain on Cleveland ISD.
As for the county being red, the developer donates significant money to them, so surprisingly they haven’t done squat about it either.

Yep. An acquaintance of mine’s wife is a teacher there. It’s been a nightmare. If I ever meet Trey Harris I’m kicking him right in the nuts.

 

Yeah I know. It's forced the ISD to do bond proposals to ask taxpayers to pony up the cash for expansion campuses. They're extremely overcrowded and teachers around here all know that if you go there (they've upped their salaries to lure candidates), expect chaos and to earn every penny.

 

I believe Paxton is suing the developer too.

This shit is almost in my backyard and I deal with it constantly so it’s a bit of a sensitive topic for me. I’m not even mad at the residents. It’s the predatory developer that took advantage of them that I’d like some personal time with.

That asswipe developed all that land and dumped a bunch of immigrants (illegal and otherwise) back there with zero infrastructure to support it. It’s added to the flooding problems, there’s raw sewage in the ditches back there, people selling shit on the side of the roads, etc.
By the way, he’s killing them on interest rates and boots them if they get even remotely behind in payments.
And he’s getting away with every bit of it. The local government out there can kiss my ass, regardless of party.

 

And I wonder how willing those taxpayers are to foot the bill for this shit. “Hey, a rich guy dumped a bunch of foreign kids into our district and now it’s your problem.”

Exactly. What will end up happening is people will move out of the district, and new people won’t move in. All that will be left are the people that are causing the problem, who probably aren’t going to be paying much taxes, and the district will become a shithole. Cleveland wasn’t the highest income area to begin with.
New neighborhoods are also being built along 1485/2100 at the northernmost tip of Harris County that are catering to the same demographic. They’ve cleared half the woods I grew up around already. Glad my kids are done with school because we’re going to see an influx of the same in my town before long.

 

What used to be the land of the free and the land of opportunity is now the land of crazy and nonsense and I am not even going political. Don't even get me started.

If they're like the parents in my district where they pitched FOUR bond props, I'd say no. 3 out of the 4 did not pass. We are overtaxed and underpaid.

 

You must be referring to the plethora of "luxury" apts going up like weeds in Conroe. I suppose the bright side is the price point will deter the riff raff, but I see that being temporary.

 

I read an article stating some illegals are actually going back to Mexico... And some, albeit the minority, aren't choosing to try and cross.

I am an immigrant myself, legal kind, and love it here. Is the best country in the world. I never asked for 1 penny and started with nothing. I support all immigrants as long you follow the rules and the laws. Unfortunately our administration is so outta of touch that "illegals" are the new norm, just 7-8 Mil for the past 3 years on top of the 18 Mil we already had? No other country in the world will allow this non-sense, just so you see the perspective. And again I am not even taking a political angle to this.
