Easy to get into a residence these days. Best defense is a home security system. Dogs are easily bypassed or do nothing unless the dog was trained professionally as an attack/guard dog.

LOL... Or if your dog is a natural A-Hole like mine. Unfortunately we had to put her down a few weeks ago. I have NO DOUBT that she would be all over any intruder like white on rice. Hell, Even when I would take her out running, she would occasionally lunge at passers by... Hackels raised, ears back, teeth bared.

The down side of this was that she was also all over any FRIENDS that came over that she didn't know.

You must have some of my dogs offspring. Mine would sit at the refrigerator and show them where the treats are.

Most dog breeds are not great guard dogs. Most get protective of certain family members, but almost ALL are great at early warning. Takes lots of and often training for a dedicated guard dog.

Yep. My last Rottweiler was a natural. He attacked two people that were not where they were supposed to be.

Had a Rot/Shepard mix years ago. She could have cared less if anything happened to me or my wife. BUT was attached to my daughter's hip and went anywhere she did on the property and would watch at the front windows until she was back home. No doubt that anyone with ill will towards her would have been in trouble

A buddy of mine has a giant cane corso and it's damn evil, he doesn't let it out with any company.

Incidentally, he inspired me to get a Tundra, it's a white TRD dbl cab, lifted, big mudders, Diamondback, Stormtrooper black accents, not sure where my phone pics of it are. He doesn't participate in forums, too bad.

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
Damn! Sorry for the ordeal! Glad your confrontation didn't require further escalation and you were able to recover most of your stuff.
A safe is great and better than leaving out in the open. But, in addition to the safety glass, you might consider some stashes around the house for some other guns.

I keep one or two in every room. In the event of a break in or (as in your case) something requires quick action, I don't want to have to go run across the house, down in the bat-cave and have to open a safe.

Hopefully the little fucktard you caught will sing on his shit-spackled-diaper-stain friends.
