Make sure your settings are correct. There is a screen on the dash computer for Average, Per trip or Per Tank. Set it to average, then reset your calculations. See if it goes back to normal. I have 34" tires and consistently get 15-16 on average.

I don't warm mine up at all. Drive like I stole it. Average 17.5-18 in Atlanta Stop and Go traffic. These trucks get better mileage as they get some miles on 'em, unless you do something like add a lift and big azz tires that poke out. But seriously if you bought a truck for good gas mileage you should sell it and buy a Prius.

That's actually exactly what will happen.
Happens daily for me. But, if I warm up/idle for 5 min, then drive 30 min, then my display will read the normal 14/15/16 that I "average" when I shut the engine off.

Maybe the brakes are dragging a bit?

I get around 17.5 to 18mpg around town and 21.5 to 22mpg highway on my 1794 Limited Edition with stock suspension and tires.

At my age I'm never in a hurry and drive pretty easy and at the posted speed limit or a few miles above.

My dash readout is pretty much on the money. Actually the differences between that and hand calculated are in the position of the vehicle when filling and the speed of the gas coming out, aka how full I get my tank. Average is about equal.

    *UPDATE*
Just picked up the truck from the service dept at 59718. I got my 2nd key fob today so when I took it in I told them about the front camera going bad (stopped working first week of ownership) and also asked about my MPG. The service manager said that they checked for codes and TSB and found nothing related to my new 2024 Toyota truck getting worse MPG than my grandpas ol 1977 Dodge Ram.

5 minutes with a warm engine perhaps, BUT a cold engine start, running really rich (required for a cold engine) and just setting there for a period with no load to help it warm up faster. It's going to burn fuel like crazy. Just physics...

I understand the idea, but in practice I've not seen that large of an impact. I let all my vehicles warm up at least 2-3 min year round, and usually more like 5 min+ (often more than 5 min come winter), and I've never had my mileage drop anywhere near 5 mpg. And I check, by hand, my mpg on every tank of gas. Are my vehicles somehow violating the laws of physics?

Fuel mileage is extremely subjective on any vehicle as to driving habits or routines, any vehicle modifications will greatly effect mileage as well. Modern vehicles are engineered with all kinds of hacks to gain that extra 0.1 MPH here and 0.1 there, such as light weight materials, aerodynamics, drivetrain resistance, tire rolling resistances, gearing, etc, etc, etc. Any owner modifications, specifically bigger, heavier tires, lifts that screw up aerodynamics, etc etc are going to counter many engineered fuel saving measures .

Any of the contemporary small boosted engines (Iforce, Ecoboost, Hurricane, TurboMax, you name it) have the potential ability due to inherent design of small displacement relatively high compression, etc to be fuel efficient under light to moderate loads. BUT, make them take on boost forcing more air AND FUEL they can use up fuel rivaling the biggest of V8's to make the big power and torque numbers we expect to get out of them. Hense that is why often times you'll get 24 MPG driving 60 MPH with a tail wind, then same route but a 20 MPH head wind you get 16-17 MPG for example...

It 100% will. My mileage tanks in the winter from warm ups. Typically my drive is 10miles to work and back. If I leave work when it’s -40 or -50 even with a 10 min warm up it’s still cold af. It’ll never warm up properly till it moves. I drive it super easy, but everything is working harder and my mileage goes from ~12l/100km to like 18-19. That’s like 19 down to 12mpg

Hello all, I have owned my truck 4 ~ 3 months and currently the best MPG is 7.3l/100 which i believe is ~ 13m/100, that's outstanding

Also just because your gauge says warmed up does not mean the engine has reached equilibrium temperature throughout, aka optimum efficiency.

I'm getting 24.5 on long trip with reasonable driving. Short trip to town and around town back home. I average about 21.5 on short trips. That is starting and taking it easy until it warms up. If I drove like I stole it. I wound probably still get around 16 or 17.

    I am stuck on 14

I idle for about 10 min 2X day to warm up and I have 35’s and a (wescott) Pro lift

No, but based on how far you drive after your warm ups could explain why you’re not seeing any significant difference.

If it’s >10-15 minutes then it’s not about understanding physics anymore. Just basic, really simple math.

Do you brake with your left foot? If not I would check for a stuck caliper.

Not trying to scare the OP, BUT... According to majority of ppl who had engine failures.., the first symptom they reported was much higher fuel consumption...

I would change your oil ASAP... And look up for Christmas glare..

When I drive around town I get 15mpg, when I go 60 mph I get 21mpg, if I go 85mph with a soft tonneau cover I get 18.6mpg, with my soft topper with an integrated frame for a RTT with big square tube sticking up into the airflow for the cross bars and a sail effect I got 14.6mpg at 85mph. The topper was also having some issues causing almost a parachute effect as the airflow coming around the cab pushed the sides of the soft topper in and the rear part of it almost acted like a sail or parachute which is also why I think the mpg's are so bad with it. I plan on getting rid of it.

Get rid of the topper I mean. I am also considering selling my 3rd gen and getting a 2nd gen but purely for financial reasons as my payments is super high and I should've spent less on a car 2 years ago when I got my 3rd gen.

After getting my 2023 TRD pro back in May 2024 with 4,xxx miles. I have yet to see my MPG climb higher then 12.4. I'm sitting on 37s using regular 87-88 whatever my companies gives us. I'm all highway miles too.

Your 12.4 is actually 14.3 when corrected for tire size.

I’ve recently purchased a 24 SR5. I’ve put about 1200 miles on it and it seems to be getting 15-16 around town and 21 on the highway. In ECO mode/driving very old man like.
    It’s better than my 2017.
